lol Of course Arum's still bitter. That slug lost money once Oscar got ambitious, and continues to lose money as Oscar stays ambitious. So of course he's gonna want to throw stones now that he's not gettin his precious pennies anymore.

It's just a ploy by Paul, so that when Hopkins turns down the offer, Paul's fans can claim another "duck".
If Williams was serious about fighting Hopkins he'd go to a catchweight of 170, just 2lbs north of 168 : The division Paul said he'd fight Calzaghe at.
Then he should fight floyd at 147

5,600 turned out for the williams/wright fight? Pisses me off. Need to get these fights outside vegas. there was probably droves of people dying to see this live in other cities but no its all about the money. Vegas is good for the mega fights but having these sort of cards there is killing the main****** publicity of the sport. Greed is turning boxing into a niche sport

Originally posted by jvsnypes View PostArum and his team put in a lot of work to build Oscars image. But at the end of the day,it was Oscars good looks, charisma, and big heart in the ring that made him who he was.He had the same elements that made Leonard and Ali so great. He was masterful in front of a camera and in the ring he would fight his ass off. When pure boxing skill would not get the job done,he would kick in another gear, bite down and brawl with the best of them. This led to very exciting fights.Could Roy Jones or Mayweather build that type of drama in the ring? Those guys are too cautious in the ring and took little to no chances in the ring. These guys also catered to the hip hop generation, but that generation is not the ones filling the seats. They rely on pure skill but its heart and taking risks that make you a crowd favorite. When fans see a guy that is willing to leave everything in the ring, they anticipate his upcoming fight. They know they will get their money's worth. It will be a long time before you see another fighter of Oscar's magnitude.Manny is a very good fighter, but he doesn't have Oscar's charisma. Also,is it me,or does Manny have a problem fighting black fighters? You can't just beat up on Mexicans and call yourself the best. When will he fight Tim Bradley or Holt at 140?How about Nate Campbell? These are good solid fighters that produce exciting fights.Oscar fought the best black fighters of his era.So the De La Hoya haters need to step back and step off.To me, he was a throw back fighter. He fought the best.Ray Robinson lost a whole lot of fights, but he is not remembered for that.Duran, Hagler, Hearns,Leonard,Ali, Louis, and even Holyfield lost fights. But they're not remembered for that. They are remembered for fighting the best of they're time and win, lose, or draw, they kept you on the edge of your seat. Now think back. How many times did Oscar have you on the edge of your seat?Ok. Think back again, with the exception of Holyfield and maybe Tyson, what other fighter had you feeling that type of excitement in that era?Maybe Tito. Just admit it,like him or hate him,Oscar was the man.
