Both fighters are very good prospects but rough around the edges. Anyone who thinks they are bums knows nothing about boxing. Anyone who thinks they are already elite fighters knows nothing about boxing. Both have tremendous P4P power, which makes this fight a huge risk for both of them. They both deserve huge props for taking the challenge if the fight goes ahead, and whoever wins will deserve huge props for the win. Winning won't be enough to prove they've reached the elite though, they'll still have to beat a Funeka or a Juan Diaz or a Marquez before they can be called elite. But it will be an exciting war, and all true boxing fans should be looking forward to this fight. These comments are just plain ***en ******ed. Glass jaw really why? is it because he has been ko'd before? Oh no he has never been ko'd. Valero will ko prescott, after he beats him people that are saying presscott will ko him easily will say he just fought another weak fighter
Regarding Valero's chin, though, he does need to learn to tuck it in - if he leaves it hanging out against Prescott like he did against Pitalua he'll be in big trouble.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-16-2009, 07:27 AM.Comment

Valero stopped Mosquera in the 10th, and Toledo is better than Mosquera, IMO.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-16-2009, 07:33 AM.Comment

What's with the xenophobia? Kotelnic isn't a big puncher, but isn't a bum. He's ranked the #3 contender in the division by The Ring, and is ranked #6 by boxrec. He's a good boxer.
And even if he was what you call a bum, it wouldn't be because of where he's from.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-16-2009, 07:45 AM.Comment

Yes, but he doesn't have the manager/promoter excuse any more. He was still wild against Pitalua and can't afford to be against Prescott. But he has a new, better trainer now, so we'll see ...Valero by KO inside 5.
A lot of folks don't know that Valero's style has 2 sides to it. In an actual fight, his style is crappy, he swings wildly, always going for the home run, with no intention of putting up any semblance of defense whatsoever. Blame this style on his manager/promoter, who dangles a bunch of carrots if Valero ends his fight via KO, specially when he was having that 18 1st round KO streak.
In sparring sessions, he's movements is very impressive. He picks his spots carefully, conscious about defense, and he showed great lateral movements too. Check out his yt videos against Erik Morales and Urbano Antillon, you won't believe it was him against these guys...Comment

Valero will still be swinging with his big bats with wild abandon until Prescott catches him with a big punch. He will mellow a bit ( if he survives the big bomb from Breidis) if he thinks Prescott can hurt him bad if he gets hit again, play cat-and-mouse for a while. If he hits Prescott good and he thinks Prescott didn't take it too well, he will revert back to wild ways and will go for the KO.
That's the route he went against Mosquera, I think nothing will be different...Comment

Risky fight for Valero,Presscott is huge for a lightweight,as was Khan,Valeros just entered the divisionComment

Lol at the brits that are saying Prescott just because he beat the **** out of their beloved Amir Kahn. Valero's pop is on another level for this division and seing the way Prescott struggled in his last fight against a fringe contender, there's no way he win this. Valero KO 2.Comment
