Since Everyone Is Talking About Calzaghe....

Just kept thinking to myself when i saw everyone talkin about calzaghe...and how he only beat a "43 year old B-Hop", who had been takin out his oponents in good fashion...and even after the defeat to calzaghe (which in some peoples eyes was B-Hops win) B-Hop went on to batter a very good fighter (Pavlik, althought pavlik did move up weights for the bout) proving he still has it, obviously way past his prime tho.

So the question is...When was Calzaghe in his prime? What point of his career do you think he was at his best?

Its hard for me to say as every fight ive seen him in he still seemed like he was boxing so well he never got out of his prime...but he obviously had to..

My guess is against Lacy. That's the best version of Calzaghe I can remember seeing but then again I much of anything prior to that until recent.

I think he was in his prime before he broke his hand then he changed his style and became a decision-winning fighter. To me I think when he fought Kessler, Hopkins and Jones, he was already out of his prime. Just my opinion.

i believe he was in his prime when he retired , his boxing skills were just as good as they always were. however i believe his power used to be once upon a time , likely before all the hand problems so i guess that could technically be looked at as his prime. but i dont believe his actual boxing skills ever fell off.

Ye i know what you mean....but around the lacy time he seemed just that much more...his skills where so good i think thats why he was such a gd champion, but his power did seem to go abit after all the hand problems...

According to chris eubank, that punch calzaghe got the knock down for he said was the hardest punch he had ever felt in his career....His punch was defo more devastating before the hand injuries.

lacy and everything before that are what i consider his prime. He took on Jeff Lacy when everyone was calling him a monster, before the shoulder surgery and still destroyed him. There was one round i thought to myself "this could be a 10-7 round" and there wasn't even a knockdown. He really did ruin and batter lacy that night. that fight prob took away a few years of Lacy's career.
