Floyd fighting any true 147 lb. fighter is almost guaranteed to go 12. He has to be prepared for that as pretty much his destiny when fighting men who belong at welterweight.
The funny part is that Floyd, who knows the uphill battle a great fighter has to take, relying on his skill against a man much physically stronger, is now attempting to do the same thing to Marquez to gain an advantage. I don't like that. Floyd knows he is the draw, the big name, he's the one with AT&T commercials, who was on Dancing with the Stars, and has a throng of celebrity friends- and so he knows he can set the terms (or try to).
The sad part is I remember when Floyd fought Oscar and he bitched about how the De la Hoya camp wanted a smaller ring, wanted to set the weight, pick the type of glove and dominate every little aspect. Floyd knew it was pretty ****ty to have the deck stacked against him, but he's willing to play the same game when he's in the driver seat.
I don't think Mayweather will have a problem making junior welterweight, or some catch weight between 140-147. I do, on the other hand, think Marquez would not be the same fighter at 147- and it'd almost become a joke of a fight if Floyd makes him pop up two divisions just to get a shot.
This fight is interesting at 140 because it'd be a good place for Floyd to go after Pacquiao when he beats Hatton (assuming he does).
Chump move, if true, from the Mayweather camp. There's a fine line between wanting to take advantage of your draw power and swindling the boxing fans from what could be a very good fight- AT THE RIGHT WEIGHT.

Why are you not calling for Cotto to fight PWill but u want FM too??? Why are you pushing for Floyd to fight Cotto but you havent heard Cotto mention Floyd's name once? But Floyd is ducking him...Be for real!!!

Right after Marquez challenged Mayweather, I immediately posted on several sites that this challenge has provided Junior a safe way for a comeback. I suspected then that it was Marquez in his mind when he talked about a July 11 tune-up fight. Then, after the recent Valero victory, I posted that Marquez is not going to answer Valero's challenge because of fear. Now I am saying that Marquez is not thinking of a 3rd rematch with Pacquiao, ever. He was just bull****ting when he called out Mayweather, assuming PBF wouldn't answer his call. Now he's in deep trouble. Any of these guys are big-hitters and can beat the hell out of him. So now they're looking forward to fight a long-time dead Morales.

He OBVIOUSLY wants a fight with Pacquiao at 147. Anyone who thinks otherwise is incredibly ******. Regardless of whether, you agree with him fighting Pac at 147 or not, his plan IS to fight him at 147.
So after a nearly 2 year lay off, he wants a tune up. He wants a tune up at 147 because thats the weight he plans to fight at. So why should he take a tune up at 140 when he does not intend to stay at 140?
Now, for those who want him to fight a legitimate welterweight, do you REALLY expect him to call out Mosley or Cotto for his fight return? After a year and a half lay off, you actually want him to fight Cotto or Mosley?
Now for those who want him to fight a good welter as a tune up, who does he fight? Berto, a green fighter, whose career would be paused for a few years after Floyd beats him. Berto's career will be in jeopardy.
Collazo? Possibly, but theres no money in this fight and a fight against Marquez even at 147 does more for Floyd.
It just seems as if some of you guys find it difficult to see the bigger picture regarding this whole situation. Floyd wants a Marquez fight at 147 because he intends on fighting at 147. It makes no sense for Floyd to fight at 140 even though he never intends to fight at 140. And whether Floyd can make 140 or not doesnt come into play as he obviously has no intention to fight at 140, so it shouldnt matter.
Some of the stuff ive read is just so laughable. Theres no sense in what some of you guys write.

He's only an undersized WW when names like Cotto, Mosley and Margarito are thrown at him.
like BPP said floyd hasnt made 140 in years, it seems like he's trying to avoid a DLH situation, we saw dlh be a shell of himself making 147 after years at JMW
its the marquez camp making this hard.
