The guy with the knife.

Knives > anything in a street fight.

Trained boxer strikes first. Hits opponent 5 or 6 times within the first 2 or 3 seconds while giving angles, immediately gains initiative and finishes offending @sshole prior to any possible response. There is no argument here. Anybody who has fought alot in the street knows: 'strike first, strike hard, strike often'...You never give your opponent time to get started. It is paramount to remain in control in the street because if you cede control, who knows what your opponent will do to you.

          That is all.

          Carry on.

A boxer must rely on very limited attributes. He may be good at striking and throwing combos, but everyone knows that one or two punches will not necessarily knock a person out or down. Many people are resilient and based on their mental state and conditioning, won't immediately succumb to the highly regarded KO which many consider to be the 'fight ender'.

In a street fight -- one one one -- with all other factors being equal -- an experienced MMA fighter is generally trained to continue fighting if/when he is knocked to the ground, whereas a stand-up boxer usually expects a fight to be stopped when someone is knocked down. One fighter can rely on multiple factors of offense and defense, while the other is limited in scope.

Both fighters are trained in the art of boxing, arguably the most effective and efficient upper body striking method, and either one can get lucky with a punch if timed perfectly. By contrast, either one can also break their hands while striking.

The MMA fighter has a multitude of offensive and defensive forms of fighting he can rely on from the no-holds-barred, anything goes, standpoint. That means the MMA fighter is trained to incorporate leg kicks, elbows, and head butts as the means of securing victory.

God you people make me laugh with all the "A trained boxer strikes first and hits 6 times" or the equally embarrassing **** like MMA fighter takes it to the ground immediately blah blah blah. There is even one idiot that said he would bet his life that one will beat the other.

There are too many variables for anyone to even begin to answer this question. The question might as well be "Boxer v.s. MMA figher in an abstact algebra test. Who would score higher?"

On an unrelated note this guy:

Alistair Overeem hospitalised 5 bouncers in a night club last year after they attacked his brother.

I can imagine Tua or Tyson doing something similar.

Why even bump this ****? Anyone who knows anything about fighting, ring, octagon, street whatever, knows that a streetfight has so many variables and possibilities, it is impossible to say mma beats boxing, boxing beats mma, it just doesn't make sense.

You cannot definitively state one group beats the other, it comes down to the individual.

(this is assuming two fighters of roughly equal weight)
Scenario 1: Boxer with a genuine KO punch lands first, fight over.

Scenario 2: MMA fighter is able to grab the boxer and wrestle him to the ground, fight likely over.

Scenario 3: Both guys swing, both land and go toe to toe, MMA fighter goes in for a TD or a grab but get's hit as he does, and he messes up and falls down, boxer either punches the hell out of him or kicks him

Sceanrio 4: Both strike at the same time, MMA throws a kick to the leg, boxer throws a right hand, whoever has better speed and technique in their respective attacks likely wins here.

See? That's just a sample of the many scenarios that could occur in a streetfight between a boxer v an MMA fighter. Debating which group "whoops the others ass no exception" is childish.
