How highly do you regard Shane Mosley?

    An ATG?
Where does he rank in his generation? Which fighters of his generation do you rank above him?
How much do his losses to Vernon and Winky detract from his resume despite the fact he has many very good and great wins?

Shane is one of the better fighters of his generation, but somewhere short of the Hall of Fame.

He never dominated a weight class, but he did have a deserved stint atop the p4p rankings. The only top fighter he ever dominated was Margarito, and that carries an asterisk.

He got legitimately beat by Winky, Forrest and Cotto. Forrest and Cotto were in his best weight class.

Just out of curiosity, why do you rank Oscar above him?

Shane Mosley is absolutely a Hall of Famer. Won the lightweight title by beating a respected undefeated champ in Holiday. Defended it eight times, albeit against suspect contenders. But instead of defending it 85 more times he leaped a division and challenged a prime De La Hoya. Seeing as how we've declared Manny for sainthood for doing that to a washed up version, how much props should Shane receive for his accomplishment? I think he struggled for years after that but his win over Antonio Margarito - and the manner in which he did it - cements his legacy. Not an all-time great but he's a shoo-in for Canastota.

Mosley is the 2nd best of this generation of fighters, right behind Hopkins in my book. He has a great resume, he's showed us osme brilliant fights, and most of them above his best weight class (light weight). He's a class act and one of my faves.

That may be going a bit far.

Not even in the HOF? That's also going a it far. He is a definite lock for the HOF.

Do you remember that he was a LW for a long time? Dominated there for a while. Big win over the undefeated Holiday. That is easily one of his best wins among other very good wins over Molina, Leija, Rivera.
