Hopkins/Calzaghe; Negative/Positive Effects?

That fight was so ****ty i dont ever want to see a rematch.

The negative was that Hopkins didn't get the win, and that is because Calzaghe threw punches that hit his shoulder and arms. BULL ****.

The fact that you view it that way is exactly my point, it is really just a lose on paper then if Calzaghe's win isn't viewed as such.

Calzaghe deserved a UD for raping Hopkins in round 9. Best part of the fight.

It wasn't that entertaining and Calzaghe slappin, B-Hop's holdin (He kind of overused it a bit) didn't help the fight much. I had it 114-113 B-Hop. I didn't see it as a lose for B-Hop and I don't think it affected his legacy at all, dude was 43

More than likely Hopkins vs Roy Jones would have taken place, for better or worse.

And if Calzaghe lost, it's possible he would have fought Pavlik (and schooled him). So basically they would have swapped positions I think.

As far as legacy goes, it definitely helped Joe more than Hopkins. Had hopkins have won, it wouldn't have added much to his resume. For Joe, it added that hall of fame name his resume lacked and set him up a fight with Roy Jones. Historians will always keep in perspective the age of both of those fighters though.
