He needs to take the approach like Mayweather did. Fight exclusively for them with a contract. Because they were high on Floyd, Arum made HBO lock in exclusivity. If HBO is high on Gamboa, **** or get off the pot.
Keep in mind that HBO is quick to drop a knicca. Ask Jermain Taylor, Vernon Forrest and Kassim Ouma.

I love the no contracts situation.
I mean we've been forced to watch great fighters fight subpar competition, think Floyd-Bruseles and watch guys like Ruiz and Dominic Guinn get shot after shot and stink it up.
Taylor had some good fights on HBO, but fights like Spinks etc aren't fan friendly.
And things like Dirrell-Stevens and at an earlier point Judah-Witter were painful to watch.
You want the big money and a contract. Then earn it and make it worthwhile for all of us.
HBO is entertainment and if the fighters don't entertain, that's on them.

Wait. Taylor "deserved" a break from the Hopkins-Hopkins-Winky run. It was HBO's fault for even booking a Cory Spinks bout. What was the last entertaining Cory Spinks bout? Zab judah. Why? Because Zab was pinballing his ass around the ring.
You can't be mad at Judah-Witter on paper.Remember that was the era when Judah looked unbeatable.
Overall, Floyd did HBO right. The Corrales fight. 2 Castillo fights. Blowing out Manfredy. The wars with Chavez, Augustus and N'Dou. The Gatti PPV. The Judah fight with the brawl. Corley was entertaining. The Hatton mega-event. And the biggest commercial fight in history. And the 24/7 franchise.
Yes, there were a few Bruseles gimmes thrown in there. But Floyd worked his way up from KO Nation, to B.A.D. to WCB to PPV monster shows. HBO got their money's worth.

Yeah HBO punished Witter good for that one.
Taylor-Winky was awesome, Taylor-Hop ****** to me.
Cory Spinks shouldn't be allowed on tv LOL.
Yeah Floyd did fine with his contract, but I just think it keeps guys honest and perhaps the announcers less biased with few house fighters.
And it forces promoters to make great fights.

But then he took a Mayorga right hand to the dome, got dropped like a hot potato (both in the ring, and by HBO) and his career STILL hasn't recovered.
