  • HBO and SHOWTIME....what's going on?

    1) HBO dropped Jermain Taylor. Even though Jermain is still a viable, competitive fighter and will likely end up running the SMW division.

    2) Showtime - for the first time - kept talking about FMJ on Saturday night. This follows the positive things that FMJ said when attending Chad Dawson's last bout. Floyd attended a SHO card. Mark Taffett refused comment when he was asked about Floyd's return plans.

Remember that PBF leveled racism charges at HBO last year.

    3) Yuriokis Gamboa is generally regarded as one of the most exciting young fighters in the sport. He has already fought on HBO. Now, Gamboa is gonna be fighting on SHO after his ESPN bout next week? WTF, HBO?

Not a bad lineup for HBO the next few weeks.

Showtime has really stepped it up true, but they can never ever be HBO no matter what, they just don't have the revenue or number of subscribers to really compete.

HBO dropped him because he lost twice to Pavlik and was coming off of very boring fights against Cory Spinks, etc.

People never really bought into the HBO Jermaine Taylor hype.

Gamboa fights on all three networks, so I'm sure HBO will have him again. HBO has been doing a good job at only picking up what they view as good competitive fights, for the most part, and Gomboa's next fight really doesn't look like it's going to be competitive.
