My favorite Erik Morales moment

he even stood over one of his fallen foe to have their photo taken... (velardez i think...)Comment

Thing is Eric doesnt act like a saint or a diplomat outside the ring while MAB is this politically correct guy outside. Eric is no where near MAB in bending the rules inside the ring......Yes he talks thrash but he backs em up.Comment

Agreed...that was emblematic of what kind of guy and fighter he was which is why he is one of my all time favorites.I've seen a small handful of threads in the last few months of people talking about how Morales went southpaw on Manny in the 12th round of their first fight.
To many, that's their favorite Morales moment. At least that's what I've gathered from reading those threads. The balls he displayed in doing that seemed to win a lot of people over, myself included.
But my favorite Morales moment never even occured during a fight.
It was in the post fight interview after the first match with Pacquiao, when Merchant asked Erik about going southpaw in the 12th. And when Merchant asks Erik why he did it, Erik just cracked a sly smile, extended his arm, put his hand on Larry Merchant's shoulder, looked him in the eyes and said.....
You could tell just by watching that Morales was very sincere there with Merchant. As if his only concern was just making the fans happy.
Hands down, my favorite moment from "El Terrible".
He couldve coasted that 12th round but he chose to get in the belly of the beast and take Pac's best shots for the sake of the fans.Comment

How does Barrera act like a saint or diplomat outside the ring?
I've seen many Erik fans say similar stuff to me, that Marco is a hypocrite whereas Erik isn't, and I just don't see it.
I've never heard Barrera claim that he's an amazing sportsman or a truly genuine human being.
Both men are badass inside that ring though. That much is certain.Comment

I also like in the early part of the First Pac fight when both guys exchange punches and morales kinda says alright now we can fight.Comment

To be honest though that's one of the many reasons why I loved both guys. Obviously they were both great fighters but the machismo they carried about them made me like them even more. Neither one of them would take **** from nobody and wouldn't let themselves ever be punked out. Both of them were the embodiment of badass.
