lmao. hey if a fighter cant go on he cant go on. cotto quits against margarito so what its not the end of the world for him. he could go on to be great still. look at israel vasquez my boy quits on his stool after 7rds cuz of a broken nose in his fight with rafael marquez. the boxing community said its over for him that his days on top are over. lol how wrong were they not only he comes back in the rematch and stops marquez in 6 but won the third fight as well now we consider vasquez-marquez trilogy one of the best. i cant say cotto can bounce back like vasquez but it can be done tho.

The only thing I believe mexicans would get out of economical help, would be better boxing technique, but that will also take away their warrior spirit.

Just take the past for example. A lot of boxers liked to fight and the era, when compared to todays era, where boxing gets more help, you see todays era sucks, you see now a lot of fighters who refuse to engage and brake down easily when their in trouble.
i did say IF they had a good boxing TRADITION... right?

I knew this thread was going to draw a lot of positive and negative comments especialy from the Mexicans because of our great boxing rivary. That's what makes this rivary Mexican-Puerto Rican the greatest in the sport of boxing. I hope this sport rivary continues forever becasue it would only make better boxers for both contries and we, the boxing fans all over the world, will enjoy it.

In the meantime we will enjoy our champions the same way Mexico and all the other countries enjoy theirs.

However i must disagree with those who say that PR has had boxing sucess due to the type of help whether is political or government that other country doesn't have. Mexico and Dominican Replublic were used as an example previously on this thread so i'm going to use them also.

Dominican Republic at this time has so many great baseball players in the Major Leagues probably the best in the sport.

Mexico has had success with boxers, soccer and others.

The fact is that every country have thier tradition and a preferred sport with in the tradition there are historical moments and characters that help change some of that traditional and influence their people.

In Puerto Rico it was our Baseball Players (Roberto Clemente, Orlando Cepeda) that influenced a generation and that's how players like Roberto Alomar, Ivan Rodriguez, Bernie Williams, Juan Gonzalez dominated the 90's.

Then there was our Basketball Team that in the 70's defeated Rusia with a small guy called Pachin Vicens that influenced the players that came in 4th in the world tournament in 1992 and also the players on the team that beat USA ("Dream Team")by 19 in the Olympics.

In Boxing some of our current champions might have been influenced from the Benitez, Chapo Rosario, Wilfredo Gomez and the more young ones by the recent success of Trinidad.

You never know, a guy like Guzman, might be influencing some young kids to go into boxing in the Dominican Republic and in Mexico some kids might be leaning towards baseball (thanks to the World Baseball Classic)and that will give their country some success in other sports that traditionally they don't dominate.

In a country there's always ups and downs in terms of success world wide in different sports and this is not necessary a reflect of the political, government or a economical situation of their country. Most of the time is the willing, dedication and desire of their men and women to succeed, no matter what adversity they find on the road to success.

The pain in your nuts might go away in five minutes but it has an effect on your whole body for a whole lot longer. Ive always thought de la hoya was a little ***** but he beat tito that fight. He wasnt runnin the whole fight he probably just got tired from whoopin tito's ass for around 8 to 9 rounds. People say cotto ran maybe the last two rounds he was trying to stay away but he whooped mosleys ass. Cotto's my fav fighter just to let you know so you dont think im discriminating against puerto ricans.
Ur tellin me u got weak balls, u produce no kids, NO De La Hoya did NEVER won that fight, he was "Chicken De La Hoya" for a couple years, SON he never won that fight, he had the first few rounds but never more than 6... He got whopped in more than half the fight, what r u talkin about? he never whooped Tito's ass.. if he was whoopin titos ass then why did Tito come back n he was runnin from him????????????????????. And about Cotto VS Mosley, Cotto WAS TIRED but he never ran from MOSLEY, HE put Mosley in Place, everytime Mosley tried 2 come back he got ROCKED back to his place and stopped, COTTO just stepped back of exhaustion but never ran, he never ran a ****in round, wat fight were u watchin? Cotto won most rounds until he got tired n then he tried to defend himself in the end BUT he kept fightin, thats why MOSLEY kept stoppin after them blow, dawg u cant talk if u have opinions when FACTS are in ur face, its just dilusional.
