These Haters kind of make up rules for Puerto Rican fighters as they go, and expect everyone to abide by their opinions...lol
Example1:
Not too much attention was paid to fighters quitting before the "so called quit of Cotto". The only thing you ever heard was the "no mas incident".
Then without any doubt or debate JCC quits, Hoya, Diaz, Rubio, and Marquez.
Absolutely no doubt they quit. But Cotto takes a knee, stands up, his corner comes up to the ring with a towel in hand, Cotto nods "no", and every hating Mexican screams "He QUIT!! Ha ha, and brings it up every chance they have.
Example 2:
A champion was once a champion because he held a belt, no one cared or said nothing about it, I mean you never heard anything but Cotto wins a couple of vacant belts and fights "most feared Margacheato".
They also started saying he would never fight Clottey because he was scared and sure enough he will fight him. Now they go with,"he fights for vacant belts"....its comical.

oh and yeah, it HAS to do with population AND tradition. aren't boxing broadcasts over there free? we have to pay for them as any other country. here we practice far more basketball and baseball than boxing. heck, we practice the majority of sports more than boxing, yet we're better in boxing than any other sports we practice... even tito was a cross country champion before jumping to boxing

as i said, it's all about that population/tradition mix. imagine china having a good boxing program and tradition and half their people not dying of hunger... they would probably DOMINATE the lower weight classes

Boxing isnt a sport any person can practice. Not everyone can practice it. In the past, most of the people that turned to boxing either had problems and wanted to take em out on something or were forced to box. The only thing I believe mexicans would get out of economical help, would be better boxing technique, but that will also take away their warrior spirit.

Just take the past for example. A lot of boxers liked to fight and the era, when compared to todays era, where boxing gets more help, you see todays era sucks, you see now a lot of fighters who refuse to engage and brake down easily when their in trouble.
