Or do you actually think this was the ame DLH that fought Trinidad at 147?
Exactly, but what's even worse is that Oscar was not the usual welterweight that night when he fought Pacquiao. When he fought guys like Trinidad at welterweight, he came in the ring a lot bigger, up to 160lbs, but against Pacquiao he came in at 145lbs, which is LESS than the weight Pac entered the ring at when he faced Marquez at 130lbs.
Pacquiao vs Oscar was more accurately at super-featherweight according to their career ring entrance weights.
Come on, that's a silly thing to say. David Diaz has never beaten a single elite Lightweight, and is not currently ranked in the top ten at the weight by any independent ranking body. Boxrec ranks him #14.
Hatton is ranked #8 P4P by The Ring and has been the lineal champion at his weight for four years. He is a million times better at cutting off the ring than Diaz, is a far more powerful body puncher, and is a lot faster.
Diaz is ranked number 3 at LW by the ring magazine.
i give pac credit for this....he beat a sure future hall of famer in oscar...and a legend by most standards.....and nice to have on your resume to say you beat oscar de la hoya...but thats it....when you break down the exact circumstances of the fight its not as impressive....but a win is a win for the pacman
oh and i picked pac man to win this fight early on....i knew oscar had no speed of his own to atleast counter pacs insane speed, hatton has a different style pac has never seen before
Pacquiao fought brilliantly against a severely weight drained fighter.
Full credit for his brilliant performance, but to delude yourself about his opponents condition is just silly.
Bingo!
Guys like Calderon would have beaten him by decision, and guys like Valero would have knocked him out cold. They might not have ran as much as Pacquiao the first half, so they might have got hit with some punches, but Oscar was so weak I doubt he could have hurt a bantamweight.
Pacquiao performed great against his dehydrated weak opponent!
