Marciano was a great champion and one of the greatest fighters ever. When fighters talk about other fighters, especially fighters that came before them, they tend to be very coordial and humble when speaking about them.

I think Ali destroys Marciano because he's taylor made for Ali. In saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if Marciano gave a good fight on the other hand because he was such a tuff SOB. He would not stop coming and could take a hell of a beating.

Marciano was a small HW and that would no doubt hurt him against a great mover like Ali. Who had size and power and probably one of the best jabs in the history of the sport.

    Ali by UD.

Marciano was also knocked down by Walcott.

As far as I know, he was only dropped by Archie Moore in his last fight.

By the way, Archie had a crazy record of 148-19(107 ko's) at the time and had been knocked down several times himself. Moore had also only been stopped 4 times before in 167 fights.

Marciano was never really in serious trouble but he could be caught by good boxers.

I will just elude to the other knockdowns he had suffered. We all know who they were caused by so I won't get into it. One thing is certain, both guys had quality beards. More than good enough to hold the title. I just happen to think Marciano's was better. Not by allot, but certainly better. He had taken allot more shots than Ali and has only been hurt once. That's all that matters.

Marciano would have been put to sleep by at least three of the fighters Ali fought and BEAT.

Perhaps but using the Wepner knockdown as proof is not really valid.

Aside from that Ali was knocked down three times, once at 20 years of age against Sonny Banks (flash knockdown), another time against Henry Cooper and of course famously against Joe Frazier in the 15th round of a brutal fight.

I've seen all of Marciano's fights (that are on film) and all of Ali's and I'd have to say that Ali took more punishment during the second part of his career than Marciano ever did.

That's right. I remember it now. He was hit hard and it was more of a balance thing, but it was definitely a good legit knockdown.

                Sorry for inaccurate info. Everyone.

                  Maybe, but maybe not.

                  It's speculation.

I think Vitali Klitschko would have beaten them both off of sheer size and activity.

They were simply too small to compete IMO.

But, that's just my opinion and speculation.

                  It goes both ways.

I would have to dissagree. Ali was getting hit, and hard in the second half but those are the same shots Marciano was taking all along. It just seemed more dramatic that a fighter who was known for his defense and foot movement was getting caught I think.
