    Pathetic article.
Struggling to grasp the writers point as there are many worse champions than Joe Calzaghe regardless of who he did or did not fight during his rein as champ.

The guy who wrote it is a chump

He was not a big enough name to come to America, he made much, much more money fighting in Cardiff. The Showtime fight with Lacy only took place in Wales because it would make no money in America. He came over here once people knew who he was. The guy can never win with haters around...face it! I would say your boy Mayweather is as guilty of cherry-picking his opponents as anyone.

Lol funny article. Typical false revisionist history from another Johnny-come-lately casual fan.

Completely ignores the fact that Calzaghe chased Hopkins for years who ducked out of a fight with him.

A prime Julian Jackson? I suppose Calzaghe should've built the time machine and all!

A prime McClellan? I suppose Joe should've cured brain damage too!

I don't think joe is the worst champion ever... but he did not make the big fights when they would've counted the most.

So If hopkins demanding more money to come to wales and fight is ducking?

Did calzaghe duck Glen Johnson when he pulled out of two fights with him? costing Frank Warren around $100,000 (according to warren)

That's different. Calzaghe was genuinely hurt. Hopkins was genuinely lying about wanting more money. No double standard at all.

Is it certain that the fight was to be held in Wales, or is this an assumption, TS? As far as I know it was to be held in the US.

Only just clicked on this topic.

Please tell me G-Man and Julian Jackson weren't mentioned in the OP as potential opponents Joe swerved.

                    I got to see this.

Why not? Hopkins demanded more money and ive never seen any evidence to suggest an actual contract was signed, but if anyone can provide that for me, then ill take that back no problems.

But calzaghe pulled out of 2 fights with Glen Johnson, the 2nd time getting a hand injury just before the two were due to meet I believe. That was in 2006, back in 2004 I think he hurt his back apparently and they couldnt fight that time.

Did calzaghe then comeback from injury and try to fight johnson? or did he fight someone else instead?
