Struggling to grasp the writers point as there are many worse champions than Joe Calzaghe regardless of who he did or did not fight during his rein as champ.

I count 4 fighters in his resume, Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins, and Jones. Out of 46, only 4 really good fighters(Jones was past it) that's horrible but he wasn't a bum he just didn't want to take risks coming to america to fight the prime americans like Hatton, Froch and Haye are doing.

He was not a big enough name to come to America, he made much, much more money fighting in Cardiff. The Showtime fight with Lacy only took place in Wales because it would make no money in America. He came over here once people knew who he was. The guy can never win with haters around...face it! I would say your boy Mayweather is as guilty of cherry-picking his opponents as anyone.

Why not? Hopkins demanded more money and ive never seen any evidence to suggest an actual contract was signed, but if anyone can provide that for me, then ill take that back no problems.

But calzaghe pulled out of 2 fights with Glen Johnson, the 2nd time getting a hand injury just before the two were due to meet I believe. That was in 2006, back in 2004 I think he hurt his back apparently and they couldnt fight that time.

Did calzaghe then comeback from injury and try to fight johnson? or did he fight someone else instead?
