Your opinion about what that poll means is irrelevant - you said that no one thought Malignaggi would win, and regardless of the reason, a lot of people did think he would win.
And as I said, some fight preview articles I read predicted a Malignaggi win, and none of them predicted that Hatton would win as easily as he did. Most thought Hatton would be out-boxed for much of the fight but would win in the end due to his power. In fact it was Malignaggi who was out-boxed, and none of the previews I read predicted that.

What amazes me about Pac is when you look at his entire career, he probably should have washed out by now. But not only did he not, the guy is better than ever. That's incredible.
Given, some of his fights were carefully chosen, but Two KO's and tough fights against JMM should take something out of you.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 04-04-2009, 02:16 AM.

Here's my take on it. Pacquiao is going to come off early as fast & elusive
but the pressure from Hatton will make him come out of his technical shell
and exchange power shots in the middle of the ring and on the ropes &
Hatton will finish him. If Pacquiao cannot hurt Ricky Hatton in that fight
and avoid him by boxing in/out then Pacquiao is going to lose bottom line.
Ricky is not going to be afraid to take the fight to Manny & being that
he feels he is the man to beat he has a lot more to lose & I think that will
make him more focused than ever.
Pacquiao has relatively no defense & is pretty much there to be hit & Hatton is not as fast as Manny but he is fast & has good power and I think Manny won't be able to totally out box Hatton for 12rds. To beat a fighter like Ricky, DEFENSE is the way to do it not power & that's why his only loss is from a defensive technician, not a speedy, decent power puncher because Hatton already proved that he can take a punch & cut the ring off. Manny is not a skilled counter puncher & will have to exchange punches with Hatton & I give the edge to Ricky.

You think Pacquiao is going to stand face to face, toe to toe, and exchange blow for blow with Hatton like Kotsya did? HELL NO.
Pac will stick and move, making Hatton swing and miss and if Hatton were to get Pac on the ropes, Pac steps away.
Please dont tell me Hatton size is to much for a fighter who has brought his arsenal to a higher weight class then 140. Even if you give Oscar the excuse of being weight drained that still doesnt diminish the fact that Pac still had SPEED AND POWER to stop him. Remember, even though Oscar didnt get knocked out, he was beaten to a point from preventing him of getting knocked out telling you that Pac still has power to hurt a Welter.
If Pac decides to fight Hatton face to face blow for blow, I would give Hatton a chance but I guarantee you Pacquiao turns, move, and spins Hatton as if he were controlling him like his puppet.
