Former champion Anthony Mundine recently stated that his upcoming bout with IBO middleweight champion Daniel Geale, scheduled for May 27 in Brisbane, may become his final bout in Australia. Mundine says a possible rematch with the returning Danny Green is not a priority. He wants to target the big names like middleweight champs Felix Sturm and Kelly Pavlik - but in reality a hometown bout with Green would make him a lot more money and he easily decisioned Green the first time around. 'I'm only going after champions, no more contenders'
I can't remember the last time he fought a contender. -
Sure, Sure, Sure Mundine we believe you. Why have you bothered wasting all this time fighting bums?Comment

He has actually been saying this for the last three years or so. After every fight, it's "I'm only going for the big boys now". It still hasn't happened though.
Oh well, maybe the one thing we can hope for is that after this fight he really doesn't fight here anymore. That would be exciting!

good luck to you Anthony...dont muck us around after geale.
I guess we have to give it to the guy he has had no ameteur fights (well very few) and he has achieved a few minor milestones in boxing...maybe hes doubted his own ability deep down and thats why hes had a string of bums?
Anyways good luck and quit jerking us around...wont be buying this Geale fight mate you will have to do better than that to take my 50 bucks...Sturm at least.Comment

It's more like he's been saying it for the last six years Benny. Mundine's been playing 'The boy who cried wolf' card far too many times. Don't know why Boxingscene.com bothered to put such nonsense on their site?He has actually been saying this for the last three years or so. After every fight, it's "I'm only going for the big boys now". It still hasn't happened though.

When I was in Australia I never met one Aussie who liked him, and Aussies seem to support any Australian in any sport, more so than any other country I've been to. They'd watch in the hope he got badly KOd.
Not that this has anything to do with the thread really, I was just wandering, does anyone actually like this guy?Comment
