Legacy: Paul Williams vs Antonio Margarito

I remember all the Margarito die-hards (that have disappeared) claiming Margarito was a HOF and that he would have a much better career than Paul Williams when it was all said and done. Haha not only does he get brutally knocked out and destroyed by Mosley, he disgraces the sport and boxers in general in the process with his disgusting plaster scandal. He will likely never box a meaningful match again, unless Arum strong arms one of his guys to box him in Tijuana.

Paul Williams meanwhile has not even hit his prime, and is fighting Winky Wright, a better opponent than anybody Margarito has ever faced, at MW in a few weeks. So my question is, who will have the better legacy and resume when it is all said and done?? Feel free to actually give a legit reason.

The fact Paul schooled Mulletcheato in Paul's first big fight while still being green does not hurt either.

I'm not really sure, Winky is an awesome boxer but man that dude has been away for a while and plus his age. This is why I think Williams is going to easily beat him.

Now if he were to fight an active top champion other than Margarito, and beat him convincingly, then I could say Williams. But that hasn't happened yet.

How long was Leonard away before he fought Hagler?? Winky is more dangerous than Pavlik as far as getting an L on your record. Winky would school Pavlik.

Paul Williams is pretty much over or under rated by everyone, there is a reason for that. Paul has all of the tools to be a great fighter, he also has several flaws that could prevent him from going much farther than he has.
The guy is huge, a superb athlete, he can crack hard and he seems to be made out of tough stuff. At the same time, he his lack of an extensive amateur back round are evidenced by his lack of discipline in some fights, and his defensive liabilities.
So Paul could go either way. He might sputter and quit, he might put it all together and become something really special. His next fight will tell us a lot.

Pavlik isn't anything special to begin with. He's overhyped in a weak division.

Paul needs to fight someone like Santos, Cotto, Mosley, Sergei..someone of that caliber. Not just one victory like a Margarito. See what I'm saying??

I dont know about that. Winky would definitely hit Pavlik, and he would probably do it often. We saw how much trouble Taylor was able to give Winky with his size and power, Pavlik would bully Winky in spots and would bust him up win or lose. I could see Kelly wearing him out, especially at this point in his career.
Either way its hard to argue Winky as a tough opponent, he is going to test Paul in a way he hasnt been tested before, IMO.

                Winky>Santos, Cotto, Sergei and Mosley.

And two out of those four will not fight him, Sergei is fighting Kirkland, and beating Santos means nothing for his career.

Yeah but Pavlik is a predictable come forward fighter. We all saw how easily Hopkins outboxed him, I think Wink would do the same.

I wouldn't say Winky is better than them at this point in his career. Its like me saying DLH is better than those guys too.

Santos is a champion at 154...so yes it would mean something. Didn't Paul said he wants to dominate a division or 2?? What better way to do it than to beat its champions??
