Thats why Cotto wont take on P. Williams. Too similar of a style to Margarito but with more brains and quicker hands.
Its tough to judge considering the info we have now on Margarito.

Grant it, Cotto got hit with some shots...but it would also make sense for Cotto to fade quick being he was being hit with bricks. Is there a possibility Cotto would've taken those shots a lot better under different circumstances? I'm basing this on the fact that Cotto's been hurt and rocked several times in previous fights by quality opponents with some pop and was able to recover and win. He was winning the fight and all of a sudden faded from rounds 7 on.

Now obviously it sounds like an excuse, but if his wraps are being brought up in prior fights you have to conclude that Cotto could've taken a lot more punishment than what he would've if Margarito wasn't packing his gloves let alone Cotto not going down until the 11th round.

Quite apart from that, Cotto had the wrong gameplan in their fight, and would be the overwhelming favourite to win a rematch because one would expect him to have a better gameplan, especially after having seen the successful strategy Mosley used.

Also the broken nose in the second round must have affected his breathing, and therefore his stamina; and he's very unlikely to break his nose in the second round in a rematch - that would be like lightning striking twice in the same place.

So even if there was no plaster involved in their first fight (and that isn't proven), he'd still be the favourite to win a rematch.

I dont think I could explain it where they would understand it. So its not just knowing but its being able to explain and teach it. Something I cant do. Hence I wouldn't make a good trainer. Unless it was conditioning coach. I can do that.

No, I am not a hater. I never said that he would lose 1000 times. I said majority being Margarito. Hence they fight 1000 times and Margarito would have the majority.

I never said Cotto was dumb either. It would be contradicting to me stating that he is pretty smart in another thread to say he was dumb in this one. I said he isn't that smart. If he was smart, he wouldn't waste all of his stamina trying to KO someone early and then later in the rounds be drained. If he was smart he would use movement instead of just taking Margarito's punches to the dome. He isnt that smart. He's not dumb but he isn't on Floyd's level of smarts.
I know whos smarter than you, Cotto and Floyd.
Cotto for not going after Margachito to get punish with more plaster.
Floyd for not fighting the best of his time and running with the devil

Style was more of an issue it seemed. Mosley would beat him again because Margarito doesn't know how to adjust and he only fights one way in the ring.

Margarito being his classy self in this article. Go rot away in the Mexican sun you POS! As if anyone, minus his dwindling fanbase gives a **** if he ever comes back anyway. Cotto/Shane, etc need to turn their back on this ******* and move on with their careers. No rematches anywhere, don't give this ****ing bum another decent paycheck in the States again, ever.

Margarito needs to fight Cotto for the second time, and here we could tell if Cotto's allegation that he has been cheated too by Margarito, or not. Cotto has no reason to duck margarito's challenge, otherwise he was just lying by capitalizing the "wrap's issue" to avoid margarito. What Cotto needs is to redeem himself now from Margarito, and if he would be successful, could back up his allegation to Margarito.

he's dumb in a lot of things (i see that guy drinking and flirting all Wednesdays in a pub here in san juan), but in the ring, he adapts pretty well, and that "legs weren't working, but i was fatigued" was really, really weird.

i would count on margo having loaded gloves that night. but even if he did, cotto did fight the wrong fight... he looked like a giant ivan calderon in there. if he changed that strategy to mosley's, williams's or santos's one, i'd bet with you on all those theoretical 1000 fights that cotto would win most of them lol
I have to agree with you on this post. Miguel Cotto just fought the wrong fight. He gave too much ring advantage & leverage to Antonio Margarito's style. With that said, it is very possible that Antonio Margarito cheated in the Cotto fight now that I'm seeing how dumb he is acting & what he said about the pads being extra Gauge when it first happened but now is stressing that he didn't know?
