Khan vs. Barrera - Official Protest is Filed By Don King

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla.—Promoter Don King has filed a protest with the British Boxing Board of Control, World Boxing Organization and World Boxing Association on behalf of Marco Antonio Barrera claiming his accidental clash of heads with Amir Khan during the first round of their match should have resulted in the fight being ruled no contest. Don is a mess. His man would have lost regardless, they would have just ended when it first stared rather than thinking Barrera would beat on Khan's china-chin. Accidental headbuts happen all the time.

It always sounds funny when King talks about protecting the boxers/integrity of the sport/etc/etc...

He does have a point though. That vicious cut shouldve called an end to the fight immediately. Would MAB have won? Most likely not but that still doesnt mean a fighter's life should be put at risk just so the brits could try and salvage that horrible night of boxing. The fact that he was so obviously overmatched makes it that much worse imo

King does have a point on this one.

I would've stopped it in the first round and declared it an NC if I was the referee.

        That gash was insane.

Why was this not brought up or filed the day after the fight or on the following Monday? The payoffs had not been received by the commission yet?

thats not really the case, Khan was even showing signs of fading by round 5, I highly doubt he could keep up his pace for 12 rounds.
