Ricky Hatton Says Amir Khan Will Not Help Pacquiao

Ricky Hatton says that his countryman, Amir Khan, will not be able to help Manny Pacquiao in training camp. Khan and Pacquiao are both trained by Freddie Roach. Khan, who is friendly with Hatton, plans to join Pacquiao in training camp to help prepare the Filipino champ for the May 2 showdown with Hatton. The friendship did not stop Hatton from lashing out at Khan. [details]

Hatton may be just jealous. If you had a countryman who`s helping your foe, you`d feel the feel the same way.

Ironic quote of the day, considering that Floyd Snr said ages ago that Hatton would knock Pacquiao out in the first round. Talk about pots and kettles!

Kahn can definitely help Manny. He is very fast. Fighting at a fast pace keeps you sharp.

I think any sparring is good, you just have to use the sparring partner for what they are good at. As long as Khan isn't his sole sparring partner and is just one guy in a team, there's no worry.

Pac will use Khan but wont rely on just Khans sparring. Pac had some serious sparring sessions with Urbano Antillon today at Wild Card which was reported on Maxboxing.com. I doubt Team Pac and Roach will just depend on Khan's sparring anyways.

I've heard that Hatton still has a few pounds to shed coming down from 160? Does anyone know if this is true or just rumored?

It's true. But it's early days at the moment, Hatton has plenty of time to drop the weight.

BTW, Pac was also sparring with Linares recently, wasn't he?

I agree with Ricky on this one. Amir was used previously to mimic Oscar's jab, I really dont think Amir can contribute anything in camp.

Yes, Linares as well. So Hatton shedding weight from 160 is true. That might be a problem for Hatton especially with about a month to go. Hatton is probably around 155-150 at this point. When the body gains then looses, then gains and looses weight it can cause problems. Keeping your body fit even during off seasons and in between fights helps your endurance and stamina. Your body doesnt have to readjust, thats why athletes stay in shape even during off season and between practice. Well see come fight night.
