Does Paul Williams prove more by beating welterweights?

He comes in weighing 165+ at middleweight. How does that make him a skeleton? Weighing 147 at 6'2 is damn near suicide.

At the weigh in he can hit 145. Margarito, Paul and Clottey come in at the same weight fight night. If I remember correctly, wasn't Clottey 170+ against Corrales?

The welterweight division is one of boxing's best divisions. It certainly has the better fighters than 154 and 160. Williams Advantages in height and reach are at their best in this division because the fighters are smaller.

Junior middleweight and middleweight are weak divisions but would be tougher divisions for Williams because the fighters there are bigger and stronger which takes away from his main advantages.

I personally think him going up to 154 and 160 and beating the best fighters there is more impressive because his advantages in reach, height, ect aren't as much of a factor which means he would be beating them with more skill and not natural size. Thats the way i see it.

Given his freakish size, he'd prove alot more by beating middle weights rather than WW's. He wouldnt have such a reach and height advantage.

The scary thing is he's the same height as Kelly Pavlik and he has a big reach advantage on Kelly Pavlik. He's a pretty big middleweight to.

wins over Clottey, Margarito and Cotto are all very good wins but are all undersized. Margarito and Clottey are big welterweights but are clearly smaller than Williams.

Wins over Pavlik and Abraham are better because they are naturally bigger and stronger guys than Williams.

IMO Pwill should Fight the winner of Kirkland-Dzurink (sp) then move down and fight at WW while he still can. Hopefully he can fight and beat Clottey, Berto, Cotto, and Mayweather then move back up to fight Pavlik.

He really needs to create a buzz and the only way he can do so is by beating a big name boxer. Like I said he will eventually fight at the MW and maybe SMW divisions so why not get alot of the big name guys on your resume before making the jump. Pavlik and alot of those MW and SMW guys are still young and have atleast 5-6 years in them. I would just hate for williams to move up and there be alot of What if's brought up in the future.
