Prior to the fight they kept talking about how comfortable Kelly is with the extra weight and like I pointed out two times now he was planning on moving up in weight until bhop derailed those plans.
OF COURSE they said hes comfortable with the weight.. PRIOR to the fight>.... come on natas... so was oscar de la hoya prior to the fight...

at 166... pavlik looked different... for TWO reasons.... Jermain stepped it up a little.. and pavlik look slower, and his workrate was lower..

at 170.. it got worse.. AND he was fighting bernard.

Im NOT just blaming the weight... but the point is... Pavlik was blown up at a weight he isnt his best at... and thats all I have to say about it

i will go with RJJr, just because he was more of a showman in the ring and have a lot more fanbase and better resume than bhop. and was more of a positive influence to boxing. jmo

but they are both ATG's, but resume to resume, are you saying Jones is better then Hopkins?
Haha, I like the analogy, but I'd see Jones more as Michael Jackson (minus the legal issues). God given talent led to their being unquestionably the best in the world at what they did, influenced an entire generation following them, and needs to be judged by what they did in their prime instead of their late career work. When Michael puts out a single like that one he did with Jay-Z a few years back I take it for what it is and enjoy it, just like I do with Roy Jones' PPVs.

i've never tried to make a list but i would have both of them between 30 and 50 somewhere (with Hopkins a couple places ahead )

I think Jones could be rated top between 21-30. It really depends on how you look at his career...

it depends on how you spin it...

This is absolutely true. The weight didn't make Pavlik look like **** (it was only 10lbs), Bernard made Kelly look like ****. He was circling around to his left (which completely eliminated Kelly's effective right hand), he was darting in on angles (which Kelly had never seen before), he used lateral movement (again, which Kelly had never seen before), he was throwing crisp combinations (which Kelly had to use earmuffs for), he was throwing ineffective flurry shots for flash and flare (to look good in the judge's eyes), and he was clinching when he needed to (effectively smothering Kelly's output).

The weight had nothing to do with it. It was skill. A fighter like Pavlik cannot carry a fighter like Hopkins' jock.

The strange thing is, Kelly is a beautiful finisher. Probably my favorite finisher in the sport right now.

When he's got a man in trouble, he mixes up his shots extremely well. He doesn't rush it, he's patient, picks his spots, throws a lot of different punches, and takes you out. Period.

But when you're not hurt, he's forever stuck on that robotic 1-2 bull****. And against a fighter like Hopkins, that's a recipe for disaster.

Couple that with Pavlik's insistance on knocking Hopkins out (really?!), and the fact that everybody and their mother thought Hopkins was done as a professional fighter and you have all the proper ingredients to make a "Hopkins fucked me up" pie.

Weight definitely had to do with Pavliks performance... Bernard also did... but so did the weight... I dont care, it did.
