Toney was drained... but TARVER WASNT? after weighing up to 220 months before their fight?
Winky and Pavlik... your talking about a JRMW and a MW... fighting two weight classes above what they ever fought...
Im not ****ting on bernard... he has a phenomenal legacy and I look at it pretty closely to Roys... but Bernard has his own "yeah but"'s on a lot of his big name winsComment

Longevity doesn't make one better than the other or LL Cool J would be the greatest rapper ever. And Bernard hopkins would be rated higher than Ray Robinson who also went south in his mid-30's. It's what you accomplish, period. Furthermore, it wasn't as if Jones' dominance was brief - he ran the sport for about a good ten years. I rate Roy higher but Hops is not finished. Either way, they're both ATG's. However, I think these kind of threads should have some guidelines. Like - were you following boxing in the 90's? And not 1999 either.
But I wouldn't place him no more than maybe 5 spots above Roy on my list.
But that's me.Comment

The thing that bothers me though, there is alot of attention put into Roy losses.
But I'm one who believes, you judge a fighter when they were in their primes. Is someone in their prime at 35? That when he started losing. Most fighters are not in their prime at 35. Most atheletes in general, are not in their primes at 35.
But Hopkins had his best fights from 36-43. So its hard to rate boxers...Comment
