Lewis better count his lucky stars the ref stopped that fight. He would've had to win 5 of the next 6 rounds, or stop him, neither of which was happening. And that was one loss he would never have been able to avenge. As it was, he knew he had no chance in a rematch, which is why he retired rather than collect a career payday.
What's funny is the Lewis that fought Vitali gets older every year. They talk about him being 40 now, in 10 years it'll be almost 50. The truth is, like you say, he was within 2 mo of Vitali's age now. And he sure as hell didn't have any 4 year layoffs.
Funny how Lewis has turned into an exciting and unbeatable fighter, when the reality is he made his name off of way past prime versions of Tyson and Holyfield. Pretty good resume, but then he lost twice to weak HWs at best, while in his prime. So the outcome of this fight would depend on which Lewis shows up, how motivated he is, and whether he's able to inflict a lucky cut like in the first fight.
damn! thanks for exact numbers bro.
yeah, funny how lewis is even considered exciting. is he considered exciting? not when i seen him fight 10 years ago or longer.
yeah, close to vitali's age, but he didnt have the injuries like u mentioned. and also didnt definitively win like vitali did. and i feel like vitali didnt even want this fight.
lewis - great fighter - but let us not put him past being a klitschko victim. after all, he did retire claiming he had nothing left to prove. yet, to every person and pundit, he proved only that he was at risk to lose against vitali.
yeah i remember what people said while vitali was made the opponent - they upgraded the fight from small scale to an instant classic basically.
Vitali beat up Lewis and scared him into retirement.
I lost a lot of respect for Lewis when he retired like a coward.
Prime for Prime....Vitali wins by KO
That's a good one. Tell us another. Maybe you could tell us the story of the man who thought winning 4 rounds is enough to give you a win, regardless of what happened after those opening rounds.
