It sure was. I kinda feel like no matter what Evander did that night he wasn't winning a distance. That second fight was very, very close IMO.

Vitali beat Herbie Hide 4 years after Bowe did and beat Donald 8 years after Bowe did.

Donald, Gonzalez, and Hide were all undefeated when they lost to Bowe. Beating Holyfield by the way, is greater then anything Vitali has done.

        ****** mofo.
i wasnt comparing holy to the vitali of the other day, you think evander would eat steelhammer after steelhammer you must have been thinking of the evander who was robbed vs valuev

never reach him? he reached lewis in the 2nd fight, he reached bowe, far better fighters than vit.....lewis expecially was good at keeping opponents away

prime evander was fast on his feet, was a far superior boxer to vitali, and had a granite chin

        evander UD

you are a ****ing ****** and an obvious biased european, you probably think holyfield-valuev was good judging you ****wit, your opinion is worthless

I actually had Holyfield winning (by a point) just like most people watching on a TV-screen. Nearly all reporters sitting at ringside had Valuev winning. Calling it a robbery is just ******. Controversial maybe. Robbery no. Just no.

You really scare me when you call me names. You are such a big frightening machoman.

Yes just yes. "Everybody at ringside" doesn't mean ****. Brian Doogan and everyone who had Valuev winning lost a lot of respect in my book. You could clearly tell Evander was landing and Valuev wasn't. Holyfield won that fight clear as day. Evander outboxed him and Valuev wasn't winning the rounds because of one simple reason, HE DIDN'T LAND. Valuev might have come forward (and rarely threw), but Holyfield didn't throw often, but when he did, he landed.

Valuev, at most, won 3 rounds.

Holyfield is arguably the most well rounded heavyweight of all time. he had a LOT of tools, and could fight well in almost any situation. he wasnt the best in any area, but he could hang in there when he was outmatched and change the fight to exploit what his opponent lacked.

I see Vitali being able to stick Holyfield on the outside for good amount of the time, but Holyfield would eventually be able to get on the inside...and Vitali has pretty much no infighting ability. Holyfield could also hold his own on the outside too, because he used lateral movement well and could close the distance with jabs and right hands.

I see Vitali giving Holyfield a lot of trouble in some situations and probebly hitting him with nice shots, but Holyfield would be able to win enough rounds, especially the late ones, to win him the fight.
not only was Holyfield very versatile, but he had a habit of being able to grind out the win with his spirit and intensity when the going got tough. I think this would allow him to seperate himself from Vitali in the final few rounds.

you do know that you can do the same thing with Vitali, right? I mean, Vitali's best wins are Corrie Sanders and Sam Peter.

I mean, even if you ignore Bowe's wins over Holyfield, his other wins are no worse than Vitali's whole career.

They have similar wins even...just Bowe beat them a lot earlier/took their 0
