Wonder what would have happened if he held on to the WBU for 10 years, staying in his backyard for most of it, and trying to get the best fighters of his era to come and fight him in some car park in manchester, then complain they are ducking him when they turn him down.
I loved his WBU reign of terror.

One of the most entertaining title runs in history.

My favourite fight of that exceptional series is when Stephen Smith's Dad Darkie ran in the ring and started swearing at the ref.

Or when Frankie Pendleton took a body shot like Cristiano Ronaldo dives for a penalty. Three times he rolled over, coupled with a look of anguish and distain.

You know what, i cant remember much of it Anymore, and i saw quite a few of those fights.

Some have said it was the golden age of JR welterweight boxing, might have to give it a rewatch sometime.

Didnt he have a bit more head movement in them days as well?

good, I said this the other day, but man. Mickey Vann, didn't he ref every single fight of Hatton's up until he fought Tszyu, lol!!!

I bet Warren tried to get him to do that fight too. The first clean straight-right-hand Tszyu landed, Vann would have headbutted him.

I don't know if he had better headmovement back then either. I'm sure he'd still murder all those guys today. Eamon Magee came closer to taking him out then many people say imo. That was classic, walked out of his corner about 4 inches and knocked Hatton down with the first shot of the contest, then spent the next few rounds in exactly the same spot countering the **** out of Ricky, then Hatton' bodywork took it's toll.

Yeah you are right there. People think Magee only hurt Hatton when he knocked him down. Not the case. Magee hurt Hatton a couple of times.

That's what concerns me about the Pacman fight.

Pacman could just copy and paste Magee's fight plan and practically punch Ricky Hatton's face off. Though it certainly wouldn't be a natural thing for him to do, and gives Hatton the chance of unloading to the body.

                      ricky's already above him.

ricky fought 2 #1 p4p fighters in their prime and beat a #3 p4p fighter , a bit past prime in kostya.

he also beat castillo who was a former top 10 p4p fighter. people don't want to count it but castillo had more left than jones did when calzaghe fought him. castillo was certainly no worse than eubank when calzaghe fought him.

                      pacquiao , mayweather , kostya , castillo > hopkins , kessler , eubank , jones
