Had calzaghe decided to fight pavlik instead of hopkins

I was actually thinking about this the other day if Calzaghe had met Pavlik instead of Jones Jr and defeatd him he would probably be held in higher regard particularly in the States! It would have also set up a Jones Jr bout for his final fight and nobody would have then questioned how good he was!

people may question his resume but his boxing skills no way can they be questioned sorr .

This more than likely! It would have been at 168 presumably, favouring Joe, and unless Pavlik stops him(slim chance) Joe eeks out 8-10 rounds in my opinion.

A Pavlik win slipped in before Hopkins & RJJ really would have added a great deal to his career. Especially since it would have been before Hopkins had got to Kelly.

Calzaghe would've won a relatively easy decision and Pavlik would become instantly "overrated" just like Lacy and Kessler were. Then Joe would be accused of ducking Hopkins, Jones and eventually Dawson.

Maybe better you know, I guarantee you Pavlik would have been overhyped into same massive Mike tyson style threat so that when calzaghe beat him (which he most likely would), that would add to his legacy.

Its a tough one, I think Hopkins is the tougher fight, Pavlik has a punchers chance against calzaghe, nothing else.

I could see Pavlik stopping Calzaghe. Calzaghe is a sucker for right hands and Pavlik has a lot of power in his right hand and is relentless.

Im not sure about that, I reckon pavlik might land flush on joe with the right at least once, joe is wide open for that shot.

But calzaghe would beat Pavlik imo.

Hopkins was just his worst nightmare, i said it before the fight, the only chance pavlik has is the hopkins has stamina problems, because that was typical 'bernard hopkins the smart matchmaker'.

Guy is very smart, if he wants to fight you, chances are he's seen a weakness in you he knows he can expose.
