Floyd would definitely be the betting favorite. 2-1 would be my guess, with no tune up.

If Floyd has a proper tune up, I'd probably take a stab at betting Mayweather inside the distance at some good + odds. As I don't consider it completely out of the question that Floyd stops Cotto.

I'd pick Cotto to win. The worst thing for a fighter is inactivity. Cotto can take a lot of hammer -- look at the Margarito fight. Personally I think that fight toughened Cotto up. I think he pretty much walks through what Floyd can dish out, but only if he can stop him "running" and slithering about.

Yup, we can all agree Cotto is more then capable of winning, Mayweather needs the tune up

I believe the biggest effect inactivity has is on your timing. I think its the reason Shane Mosely looked so poor against Mayorga. Although i guess Shane had not been out that long. His timing still looked bad in that fight.

Leonard looked terrible against Kevin Howard. His timing was clearly effected by the lay off. Then again you could say he came back and beat Hagler after 2 years inactive.

I still think it effects your timing though.

I think we can all agree then that it's fine for him to take on Marquez. There is no need to say Floyd is a disgrace because he will eventually have to fight a top welter or else he'll catch some ****.

I think all are 'it'; and have since I first heard the Floyd v. JMM at 140 rumours. All those fights are there to be made, and JMM is the first available opponent as obviously Hatton and Pacquiao are fighting each other. IMHO, if Mayweather doesn't come back now, or at the very latest right after the Hatton/Pac fight to call out the winner, he never will. There won't be a better time.
