u gotta consider how the top fighters he fought at that time were rated..
Why is Mayweathers resume so thin compared to other fighters in the last 15 years ?

there would be no discussion if Floyd would have fought the best...There would be no question if Floyd would have fought the top guys. There would would be no doubt if Floyd would have not fought less Bclass opponents. There would be no argument at all if there was not a point to argue. People who argue have a reason to based on facts.. then you have Fans who defend because its what loyalty is about. Dont make it right or wrong...but it does make it a argument. Which means something is wrong.... SO Floyd had flaws. He is not as perfect as some say. Also Floyd has perfection which makes him so good that people are amazed at skill....It doesn't make him Flawless. Cased closed! Floyd isn't perfect and he does have skill get over it!!Comment

Aside from 140lb, at the time Floyd fought the best in the division.
I think there would be no argument that Floyd fought the best at 130, and cleaned out the division.
At 135, he fought the best (the best being Jose Luis Castillo).
At 140, The best (being Hatton) blatently, and openly stated that a fight with Floyd Mayweather was premature.
At 147, in 2006 the Best was Zab Judah (not Margarito, and not Cotto [who wasn't even at 147 at the time]). Zab Judah got beat by Baldomir. Who Floyd also beat.
The only time where Floyd where it would of been at least feasible for Floyd to fight Cotto, would of been during 2007. Floyd instead elected to fight 2 of the top 3 biggest & richest fights in boxing history. One of them being a long awaited fight with the undefeated king of the one division which had been questionable. And the other was the top Jr. MW at the time.
Sure Floyd doesn't have names like Hearns, Duran or Hagler on his resume, but the man can only beat who's around at the time.
And it looks like you can add the names "Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez" in the near future to his already impressive resume.Comment

It's absolutely disguisting, how people only criticize in hindsight.
Zab Judah was at the pinnacle of his career, and the undisputed WW champion. He WAS the king of the welter weight division, hands down, no ifs or buts. He was just as athletic as Floyd and just as fast, not to mention, a southpaw.
At the time, Zab Judah was thought as the one person who could beat Floyd Mayweather.
And Floyd doesn't take risks? **** off.
Yeah, it's easy to say that AFTER Zab went on a bit of a losing post Floyd, but AT THE TIME, this was a fight that had to be made.
It's embarrassing how people apply 2009 knowledge/results to decisions that were made in 2006.Comment

trying to understand your point, if Floyd did like Bernard Hopkins and fought smaller fighters coming up in weight then he would be considered great.
Bernard Hopkins fought
Kelly Pavlik 160 lb catch weight of 170
Joe Calzaghe lost
Winky Wright 147 lb moved up to 170
Antonio Tarver
Jermain Taylor Twice
Oscar De La Hoya 147 lb moved up to 170
Felix Trinidad 147 lb moved up to 170
Glen Johnson
Roy Jones Jr lost
so to quote the author if Floyd beat Barrera, Morales and Pac, then he is great.
Rem he fought Oscar and Tito at 160 and wright was a career LMW.Comment
