I agree.. I am sure regardless of the year.. Floyd would be handful for whoever he fought..

But a career and legacy are not built on "what ifs" and "could haves".. They are Built on " Dids and Dones"

And this thread is about what he "did" and not about what he "could have" done...

So we have to keep it real.. and say Floyd has been somewhat a disappointment for having all that Skill.. and never really testing it..

He accomplished alot at 130-135 and alot of people rate him as the best SF or atleast 2nd to Arguello. Its a damn good resume at 130/135, 140/147 and 154 was just the icing on the cake. If that isn't enough to reach ATG status, then I dont know what is

half of floyds fights were title fights..he went from 130-154 and remained undefeated..thats pretty impressive..and a solid resume and you have an atg..what the problem is

REAL Fighters take chances and welcome a challenge

******* only take fights they know they have no chance of losing
trying to understand your point, if Floyd did like Bernard Hopkins and fought smaller fighters coming up in weight then he would be considered great.

              Bernard Hopkins fought
Kelly Pavlik 160 lb catch weight of 170
              Joe Calzaghe lost
Winky Wright 147 lb moved up to 170
              Antonio Tarver
              Jermain Taylor Twice
Oscar De La Hoya 147 lb moved up to 170
Felix Trinidad 147 lb moved up to 170
              Glen Johnson
              Roy Jones Jr lost

so to quote the author if Floyd beat Barrera, Morales and Pac, then he is great.

floyd never got the people he wanted when he wanted. and ultimately, the only guy he really wanted to fight was dlh.

I have already explained why I disagree with that point, he is only a disapointment if you match him to some mythical unreachable goal. When looked at through the prism of reality, compared to his peers he did very well.

You can only test your skills unless someone makes you test them and he fought more then enough good/very good/semi great/great fighters for him to prove his worth.

He is just a man and I do not judge him to some special standard, I judge him against other men (generally from his own era because cross era comparisions just add another layer of fog to an already very subjective topic).

Seriously though, Mayweather's resume is a lot better than some ppl on here would have you believe.

floyds resume is lethal, i love it, he woulda had sugar shane thier too, but shane did'nt want none, he knows, and any true boxing fan knows, he's an atg, maybe only a few fights compared to the rest, but it's solid meaning he's got quality over quantity
