Why I think Kelly Pavlik Beats Arthur Abraham

At this point it's clear the top two middleweights in the game are Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham. Alot of people have switched opinions on who would win after watching Kelly get beat by Bernard Hopkins by a wide margin.
Now everyone who's opinion changed, I wanna mainly speak to. You see Abraham knocking Kelly out at 160, I am assuming, because most polls show no one really thinks he's getting a decision against Pavlik. He's too inactive, and he's not Bernard Hopkins. But Kelly doesn't have a ***** chin. He took alot of punishment from a very in shape and game B-Hop and stood his ground. He has been knocked down before but has always gotten up. His conditioning is top-notch, especially at 160. Kelly will win either by KO, or by UD. Why? Because Kelly is a busy, come forward fighter fighting the shorter man. Much shorter than B-Hop. Abraham likes to fight in bursts:turtle shell defense, then bursts of power. But Kelly has taken the best punches of guys who fight like that. I'm talking Miranda and Taylor, guys who have if not more, at least as much power as Abraham(Taylor maybe slightly less but almost on the level). He will be able to deal with AA's outbursts. Furthermore, the time that AA rests on the ropes with his gloves up will not be as easy for him as has been in the past. Kelly knows how to deal with guys on the ropes as well as almost anyone in the game. Many of you forget that that's pretty much his bread and butter. And if any positives came out of the Rubio fight, it was Kelly's relentless work to the body, which ultimately made Rubio give up. So AA can sit on the ropes, but his ribs will take a beating, making him more tired than he would have otherwise been, making him ripe for a KO or UD. If you disagree or agree please comment.

It's a bad style matchup for Pavlik IMO. I just see Abraham going into his shell when Pavlik starts throwing and then countering with some big shots which will likely land and have effect since Pavlik doesn't exactly have great head movement or defense in general.

On the other hand I don't think Abraham is invincible. He obviously took Miranda's power well but at the same time he got his jaw broken in the process, so who knows, maybe Pavlik's punches might get to him.

      It's a pick'em fight for me.

Pavlik's beard is pretty tight and Abraham's is pretty good too. I think activity will play a key role in that fight. There wont be anything scientific at all. Whoever gets hit the most will lose, it's as simple as that.

I think Pav could beat him though

mt102879 summed up how I felt about the fight...

If I gotta make a pick its Abraham by close decision.

i agree man. arthur always has a punchers chance for sure. the guy hit's like a truck, but he's not near busy enough, and if marquez busted his ribs than pavlik will really hurt him low. i see kelly by late stoppage or ud IF he can take arthurs bursts.

There is very little chance that Kelly would win by ko.

Arthur is tough as nails and fought 8 rounds against a big puncher with a badly broken jaw.

Arthur's power is devastating. If he is strong and not drained i think he will knock Pavlik out. Pavlik has little defence and no head movement. I can see Arthur exploding from his shell and hurting Pavlik badly. Arthur definately needs to improve his workrate though for Pavlik, in his fight last weekend he was taking way too much time off in rounds and only fighting for like 30 seconds a round. He needs to tighten his punches up too, he seems to be throwing alot more really wide punches lately.

If Arthur is weak in the ring i would take Pavlik by decision.

I am pretty confident he can take Arthur's bursts. AA is a strong dude, but like I said, Kelly has taken shots from guys who hit at least in the range of AA. I don't think anyone at 160 has the ability to knock Kelly out. Miranda was as hard a puncher as AA. If he can't knock Kelly out, Arthur can't either. Kelly is still very young, so his chin can take as much it could in 2007.

pavlik takes this one easy imo

His work rate and pressure will have arthur in the shell all night

plus the height and reach advantage

I think a lot of Miranda's punches didn't really have a whole behind them in that fight for whatever reason. Maybe it was because of fatigue or the fact that he was often being backed up when he threw his punches. Abraham on the other hand doesn't waste a whole lot of energy and is firmly planted and let's off multiple big punches in combination when Miranda just seemed to be looking for a big right hand all night.
