Ali would probably not have invented the rope-a-dope had Foreman not been so good at cutting off the ring. Ali's plan going in was to dance and dance and dance.

Really? I generally see him fighting in the middle of the ring, just firing off punches like they are going out of style.

Your sig reminds me that Juan Diaz is terrific at cornerning people and making them exchange.

Oh man, that was a masterful performance of cutting off the ring for sure.

I was joking about Williams... His fans seem to think he is great at everything so i thought i would take the piss

Juan Diaz was great at putting Marquez on the ropes and making him work. He fought the best fight he could against Marquez imo.

Cotto is one of the current top fighters at cutting off the ring.

Haha, okay, I got it... that's pretty funny. In reality though, he did put Phillips on the ropes a lot.

Cotto used to be a pressure fighter that put people on the ropes, but he really has been a middle of the ring fighter who uses movement ever since the Quintana (or maybe Urkal, I haven't seen that one) fight. I don't think he cuts the ring off that much anymore. After all, he was the mover against both Mosley and Margarito.

Diaz did an excellent job in the early rounds against JMM.

Of active fighters Hatton no question. He has some of the best footwork i've ever seen, and he's always able to pin his opponents against the ropes. You never see him follow someone around the ring like a Carlos Baldomir.

In his fights with Margarito and Mosley he was more effective to box them rather than to walk them down.

Against Jennings he was back to his pressure fighting ways although to be honest he didn't look at his best.
