Amir Khan - "I Proved Everyone Wrong"

UK lightweight star Amir Khan believes he finally shut up the critics that hounded him since he won an Olympic silver medal and turned pro. On Saturday night at the MEN Arena in Manchester, he used quick hand speed and accurate punching to batter Barrera for five rounds. The Mexican veteran suffered a very bad cut in the first round and it eventually forced the fight to come to a halt in the fifth. Khan walked away with a one-sided techincal decision. [details]

Excellant performance" Khan showed great speed, movement and his defence has came on a lot under Roach. He'll be a very good fighter for years to come if he keeps this sort of progresion.

Some people willl never be pleased.

I was pleased with the improvements Khan made.

A win over Barrera is a win over Barrera.

Remember the praise Calzaghe got for beating RJJ and then being touted as the best in the world?

Khan catches Barrera, beats him to a pulp and all people can say is that they wish he gets sparked out. Pathetic/

I run with the crowd that says this fight proved very little. Nice performance, Khan has skills and I like him, but how hard is it to look good against a faded MAB? Probably not very. He is too small and too slow now. Would Khan have been put in with MAB 10 years younger? Of course not!

For what it's worth, I don't remember him getting a whole lot of praise. On the contrary, he took a hell of a lot of **** for it. I like Calzaghe, I have been watching him since the Eubank fight in 1997, but I always said the Jones win was pretty much meaningless. I think even Joe knows it's meaningless because he admitted he just wanted the name on his resume. No Calzaghe fans should gloat over this win because it's not something to be proud of.

I don't care what people over the internet think of me so I'm just going to be honest; he didn't prove **** to me. He didn't phase MAB, go the distance and win a comfortable decision or anything, it was a TD, and only because they let it get past the fourth round to give Khan the W. Chinny ***** thinks he did something, pfft.
