Samurai, do you see khan as a possible thread in the lw division? if so, what does he do to maximize success?

I think Khan can have some success in the lightweight division. He is a big guy for the weight and clearly has a couple of world-class attributes including excellent speed and good footwork, but I would seriously worry about his punch resistance if he goes up against the best the division has to offer.

If an old, small Barrera who spent the vast majority of his time below lightweight can trouble him -- and a couple of shots Marco landed appeared to do that -- it's hard to see him coping well with what the naturally bigger, younger, stronger and faster opponents will bring.

To maximize success he needs to be careful, take a steady approach and not jump in with any ****ers too soon! On the other hand, it's only possible to reach the top by taking risks and fighting the best. Tricky situation for Khan, and very unfortunate that he wasn't blessed with a world-class chin. Apart from this glaring flaw, he is a very talented fighter with a great deal of potential. Freddie Roach is very good for him.

It's not impossible for Amir to have a great career. Other fighters with weak chins have done it (Terry Norris, for example) but I get the impression it's won't be too long before Khan hits the canvas again. However, I wish him all the best in his career.

What was the odds for this fight???? KHAN DID PROVE PEOPLE WRONG..The same so many idiots who were picking Barrera cause he 'still had enough' are the morons who are sayin that Khan didnt prove anybody wrong..Read my words carefully: If u predicted or felt Barrera was goin to win OR stand a good chance OR was gonna kick khans ass well guess what??????

Goblin, this is an ill thought-out post. The people who picked Barrera had no idea how much he had left, they were merely guessing and hoping. I can't even remember how many times I said it's almost impossible to tell just by going on his last two fights, and I have never been so unsure of an outcome in years. We still don't know how much he has left because the fight proved nothing for either man. Barrera was unable to see out of one eye for pretty much the entire duration of the fight. Any game plan he had was thrown straight out the window.

What would you do if you were a veteran like Barrera facing a younger, energetic fighter like Khan? Myself, I would allow Khan to use up as much energy as possible in the early rounds and then take out that shaky chin later when he's tired. Obviously, nobody except for Barrera and his team know for sure, but I felt this was the most likely plan. We've seen similar things from MAB before. Rarely does he start out fast, he takes time to figure out an opponent and hits them hard later on. Any chance of carrying out such a plan was cut short, but those suggesting he had enough left to finish Khan are probably not quite as off-base as you think.
