Roy Jones is my favorite active fighter. I would really love to see him and Silva box an exhibition. But, I would want it to be on the up and up, not some pre-aranged you do this, I'll do that kind of show. If Silva wants to start a boxing career, then lets let him see and feel what it's like to be in with a phenom.

Here's a question...when the boxers go into MMA, the MMAers try to destroy the boxer. Make them look bad. Would Roy take it to Silva in an "exhibition", or would he "carry him" and allow it to go the scheduled distance? Do you think they would work something out ahead of time so they each know what to expect or would this be a real fight?

I think they both can't afford to risk a career ending injury in something that is billed only as an "exhibition"....Makes me think they are planning a show to really put the spotlight on both arts.

That's a good point Phat...I remember after Gerald McClelland got hurt, Roy was always saying he would know when to call it a day, that he would never stick around too long, etc.

If he would have been able to retire after the Ruiz fight, he would be remembered in a much better light by the historians and the average fan.
By squeezing out all the fights that he did since, I think he has clouded his place in the all time pecking order.

He's still my favorite fighter, but I wish he would retire after the Shieka fight.

Roy's tired ass needs to retire. I saw him get wobbled by a guy on Pro's vs Joe's for Christ sake.

I went and bought Roy's career dvd.Looking back at some of his old fights,I suddenly wasn't as impressed.A lot of the guys he fought should have never been in the ring with him in the first place. He built his superman reputation off of fighting bums. His victory over an out of shape Toney was boring. And he would never give him a rematch. The Virgil Hill fight was impressive,as well as the Ruiz fight. His fight with Tito was ok.When he defeated a young Hopkins it was a far cry from the Hopkins we see today. He never gave him a rematch. He never fought Gerald McClellan, never fought Chris Eubanks, never fought Nigel Benn, never fought Holyfield, never fought Terry Norris in his prime.I'm starting to think Roy is and was overrated. He had a chance to prove everyone wrong against Tarver in the third fight and loss badly. He never would fight Glen Johnson again despite what he says, and got destroyed and humiliated by Calzaghe.Doesn't sound like a great fighter to me.A great entertainer that gave great perfomances against so so opponents maybe, but not a great fighter.

Its going to be a boxing match dude. So its in Roy's element. Silva expressed interest in fighting Roy for a long time. The favor leans towards Roy because its a boxing match but I got my money on Silva.

Also its not like Silva never boxed. He was a pro boxer before. Silva will give him hell.

I choose to remember Roy's career at its best, culminating into his record setting performance against John Ruiz.

He should've left the game at the top.

His knockdown of Calzaghe was a mere glimpse of what could have been had they fought when it really mattered.

Now, most fans don't feel Roy can regain his P4P aura in boxing, much less be as successful in MMA as he believes he can be. As a promoter, perhaps.
As a MMA fighter, not likely.

Roy needs to go sit down somewhere before he really get's hurt.

Roy schools Silva, even today. Silva has a professional boxing career as well but he's like 2-2 or something like that. Here's a video of him fighting (and getting stunned) by a bum...
