Margarito was forced to fight Williams as his mandatory. He himself said he did not want to lose his belt. He also got his largest payday for that fight prior to fighting Cotto. I love to see these excuses that "Williams brings no money" after Margarito made plenty of money fighting him.

154 or 160 won't do anything for paul.
i think 154 is a graveyard anyways....i figure you wanna be a weight-class north, or a weight class south of 154........

he beats winky, i put PW in a better position to get a fight with pavlik, than i'd put even AA.....

facts are facts tho.....clottey is the only WW that wants to fight PW, but the networks wont pony up for that fight. mosley has already stated PW is too big, and cotto will fight berto or mosley next, if he beats clottey. these guys just aren't looking for PW.

it'd be interesting to see how cotto would be able to stand up to williams shots......don't get it twisted, williams will dish out just as much, if not more, than he takes........he does need to improve in the D area tho. that's my only complaint about dude.

last time i checked, in boxing you are allowed to fight in any weight class you can make weight in.......prick.
He dropped his WBO belt and possibly could have had a fight with Cotto since I believe he was the #1 contender, instead he tried chasing Margarito. After the Quintana fight he hasn't fought anyone that getting a win over would put him higher in the whole landscape between 147-160. Him beating Winky will be a real good look for him, but at this point he's still not a big enough name.

As far as popularity, I wouldn't put a huge edge on Williams over Clottey. Both of them IMO are almost equal. Boxing fans got love for Williams, casual fans have no clue who Williams is yet. But again, him beating Winky could start to change that, but I really don't think he's going to come back to 147 because he knows he cant get big fights there...but he can possibly create his own big fights against the 154 and 160 guys.

Ex. If he runs through Winky, who realistically are they going to put him in the ring with? One of the 147 guys or maybe trying to get a fight with Pavlik who's the recognized Middleweight champ? Kirkland, Angullo, Forrest, etc.

I think he's just talkin just to be heard

But your Wrong my friend, I believe Clottey was more than willing to figth PW. I know Quintana wanted a third shot at him but was denied. And I am sure if the Arum was not in the Picture Cotto would of fought him aswell; he has to much pride to keep him away from being called out.

That is the truth. He got schooled for twelve rounds by a B level figther, got a narrow decision with margo, what in the world makes the PW advocates believe that the rest of the elite at 147 would not do the same or better.

Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and have nothing againts him, but some people are making him out to be something he is not; the second coming of Christ!LOL

Agree 100%. I personally would not mind seeing him fight Kirkland.

After watching Cotto fold against Tony I have no doubt Paul Williams would dwarf-toss that little ***** into pallookaville.
