How about Hopkins vs. Echols II:

Echols body-slammed Hopkins to the canvas and dislocating his shoulder.
And then when they were about to stop the fight because of the injury (I think on the Doctor's request), Hopkins chose to fight on rather than win by DQ or go to the score-cards. Forget the details.
I think they were just going to DQ Echols. I'll have to watch the fight again.
Oh, Hopkins won by TKO against Echols who was still in his prime and probably the hardest puncher at 160 at the time.

I think he shouldn't have because he just had to stay up for 9 minutes to win that fight but he was probably looking after his career. When he quit that fight he placed a question mark on his boxing heart. Although, I think he redeemed himself in the Lewis fight.

I think he could have carried on fighting IMHO, Danny williams fought on with one arm after dislocating his main asset which was his right hand and he went on to KO his opponent with his left hand.

Jeff lacy fought on to get a dodgy decision against Tsypo, Mayweather fought on against both carlos hernandez and castillo with a broken wrist and rotator cuff but it all depends on the fight inside the fighter himself.
