you words right out of my mouth man..from 140 to 155..that's a sign that Ortiz won't be there very long..Kinda reminds me of Cotto's 140 days..

Exactly, lets just hope he doesn't run into Margarito anytime soon.

Forbes is a decent fighter, pretty good defense, not so good offense. Very durable, getting hit by de la hoya a 151 and Berto at 147 should give him confidence in taking Ortiz' punches. I don't like this fight for Stevie though. I think Mighty Mike was brought in to give Ortiz some rounds but it didn't happen like that so they are looking for someone else to do that.Ortiz vs Torres would be a badass fight though.

ORTIZ IS A GOOD FIGHTER WITH FUTURE. BUT IF HE FOLLOWS dlh's FOOT STEPS, HE'LL BE ANOTHER FIGHTER THAT MADE MILLIONS IN THE GAME, BUT NEVER ESTABLISHED ANY B*LLS IN THE SPORT!!! 100X35...

Personally, I like this match. He's a solid step up in class and is as durable as they come, meaning we would probably get to see Ortiz fight more than a couple rounds.
forbes isnt a bad fight, but for a ppv event, he should be fighting someone like torres

I don't see why you guys think this will be any sort of test. Arnaoutis is a better fighter than 2LB at this point. The only thing this will do is potentially force Ortiz to go rounds since Forbes can't seem to be put in trouble. I don't have a problem with the match though. Arnaoutis also beat Torres, regardless of what those scores say, and is also a step down. There are a lot of upper-middling fighters at 140 and not so many special ones. The division is deep but light at the top. They are just going to have to run through these guys for Ortiz until there is enough public pressure to get him a fight on the Hatton/Pacquiao/Campbell level.

I think a fascinating matchup would be with Juan Urango for what it is worth. Urango might be able to catch him, though I doubt it. Ortiz is special.

I really don't like watching Steve Forbes fight. He's not bad, the word that comes to mind when I think of him is "meh"

2 pound did make it the distance with Oscar above WW, and just gave Berto a run at WW. Ortiz is still young, as close to ready as he might be for the elite he isnt quite there yet. Forbes will probably take him the distance, and win a few rounds, thats the sort of fight Victor needs at this stage in his career.
Its not the most exciting idea possible, but you have to look at it from his handlers perspective. And hell, it would be nice to see him fight 12 rounds against somebody fighting back.
