Samurai is right about the jab; if Carl can use his jab effectively for the entire fight, he might give Taylor a lot of problems, as he has had issues with the jab in the past (Wright, Pavlik).

OTOH in the 2nd Pavlik fight, Taylor adjusted quite well and began landing counter rights over Kelly's jab; I can see this happening against Froch as well, especially since Carl throws his jab from the waist and leaves himself wide open for the right hook.

So IMO a good jab alone doesn't give Carl the win, but it gives him his best shot at it. If he doesn't use his jab, his only path to victory is a lucky KO whilst being way behind on the cards.
I know you are a big Taylor fan, and I am a big Froch fan. Its refreshing to see two boxers make a potentially dangerous fight for each of them.

It is certainly the case that when Carl uses his jab he is a much better fighter than when he doesn't. Against Pascal, Carl was dominating the mid rounds behind his jab, but when he abandoned it he looked vulnerable. The low left hand is something I just can't see Carl getting away with against Jermain. I know he has fought his whole career with that style but he must bring it up against Taylor otherwise he will be eating flush right hands all fight.

This is going to be a terrific fight and i'm gutted I can't make it.

He can beat him, but I don't think he will. Taylor can't afford to lose. If Taylor comes in completely prepared and focused, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone in that division who can take it to him.

As long as Froch respects Taylor, then yes he has a chance. Keeping his hands low is showing no respect to Taylor, and could find him in a lot of trouble as Jermain is a far better combo puncher. Even if Taylor's power does not affect Froch, he needs to show a tight guard and avoid getting hit unneccesarily.

Jabbing through a good defense is the catalyst to winning this fight for both fighters, which see's Taylor the favourite. I'm glad Carl has finally nailed a world class opponent, but he needs bring his A game which i don't believe we have seen yet.

Although Taylor is favourite to win, don't for one second believe this will be a breeze. There is a reason this fight has taken so long to be signed, that is because nobody really knows what Froch is capable of against World class opposition.

Course he can, it's generally viewed as a close fight.

I agree on Froch's jab, that's what caused Taylor problems in the Pavlik fights Froch's not quite as tall as Kelly but has a slightly longer reach, which could cause problems again mixed with his power.

But Froch doesn't use his advantages that cleverly imo. Not that Pavlik does loads but he drills the issue home more once he gets going.

If Taylor fights confidently, switching it up and being creative he beats any version of Froch imo.

If he comes in at 90% which he probably will, and Froch's jab is just above average, we have a very close fight.

Entirely depends on those guys on the night.

If Froch is on his A-Game he will win. He needs to use his jab well, and follow up with his devastating uppercuts.

Froch has got good power and a good jab so he can win, but i think Taylor is going to win a UD.

                  this.

taylor when he's fully motivated is a very good fighter indeed, it's his fight to lose.

if he gives froch the chance he'll be there ready to take it.

At least Froch is not like the other so called champions in taking easy mandatories instead of fights that pit the best in the division. Froch has stated numerous times that he would fight anybody, it's not his fault he hasn't had the chance as others pull out or avoid his challenge.

All Froch haters are so bitter, and as soon as a meaningfull fight for him comes along, the bashing is endless. He may be the underdog in this fight, but at least he wants to fight the best. Considering it is his first title defense too. That takes balls.
