Yes he did but this is boxng and Cotto was taking a serious beating, he had a right to call it quits, atleast he gave it his all before he quit...

The thing is this......I don't think he had anything left in his tank. He was throwing bombs at Margarito till the end but I just don't think he had anything left.
So call it quiting or whatever, I think he fought till he couldn't fight no more and his corner recognized that.
Israel Vazquez is one of my top top favorite active fighters and he quit in the first Marquez fight. But no one questions his heart. I mean just look at the Gonzalez fight and the 2 other Marquez fights and you'll see he is a Warrior.
Same with Cotto, just look at the Torres and Mosley fights and you'll see he is a Warrior and will give his 100% effort for every fight.

No, Cotto didn't quit... He was a beaten man who was taking a lot of unnecessary punishment and he also was out of gas. His corner should have stopped the fight way before they did. A quitter is somebody that stops fighting while he's still able to continue and Cotto was clearly no longer able to defend himself, even if he got back up he would've just been knocked right back down.

I don't think he quit. I think he was trying to get his ***** together and survive the round. His corner is the one who surrendered. I think Cotto was barely hanging on and took a knee just to try and survive the round.
Hypothetically, had he gone out in the 10th (was it?) it would have been stopped either way.
The way it ended, is the way it ended. I ain't takin nothin away from Cotto. Now if he didn't fight throughout that whole match, then i would have said he quit. He had blood and guts that night in the ring.

Co-sign. Cotto fought until his body gave up on him. And anyone questioning his heart is an idiot, specially now that we know he was getting hit with bricks.Last edited by BMWM3P; 03-09-2009, 01:47 PM.
