Spot on. Hopkins entire career is grossly overrated. Best win on his resume is against the part-time movie actor tarver. Lost all of the most signifcant fights on his resume (jones, taylor, calzaghe). When you compare him to a true all time great like Ray Leonard who won all of his most significant fights (hagler 1 -0, hearns 1 win, 1 draw, duran 2 wins 1 loss, Benitez 1-0), he pales in comparison

              tsk

              A) As is well known on this site for sure, you can pick apart any fighters resume - including some of the greatest ie: Ali, Holyfield, Oscar, Jack Johnson -- the list goes on.

              B) This 'butterball' is a text book case of a fat kid who uses sardonic, sarcastic, 'wit'/'humour' and consumes copious amounts of pie and whole milk to hide his pain about being such an enlarged colon rejection.

I don't even know this **** and I hate him.

              Hey Butterball!

              **** you.

              I'll STFU now.

Yeah, but in fairness, some of those fighters showed tremendous bravery and heart. It's a lot tougher to pick apart their records without coming across as ignorant. Holyfield going up in weight and taking on the likes of Bowe hardly compares to a chap staying in the same division for years fighting smaller men. Hopkins has had a very good career, and will go down as one of the great middleweights. But his career has only been as good as he's allowed it to be.

I cannot disagree with what you've said. I just hate that these self help students come here and denigrate any fighters resume. Who the hell has this fella ever fought? Kobayashi in a hot dog eating contest maybe?

                  Anyway, sorry, rant over.

                    INSANE, innit?

Hopkins is miles above Calzaghe because Zag never lost two back-to-back fights with Sad Intentions... wtf???

My favourite (favorite, Fat Yanks) is where people say that Hopkins's LHW career pisses on Joe's (okay, 4 fights to 2 is always gonna be a tough act to balance anyway... anyways, Fat Yanks) because he had Calzaghe on his record.

Not only is that another (controversial) loss, but wtf can Zag do about it... smack himself in the head?

Actually, I said in the opening post that Hops's record was above Joe's... just not by anywhere near as much as people like to make out. Your Verse remark made me smile, though.
