Mayweather vs Marquez at 147 this year!

I am on a business trip that happens to land me in Las Vegas for a lay over. I go to place a wager at the Palms and who do I see in front of me Mr. Leonard Ellerbe. I have seen him before numerous times in Vegas for Floyd's fights and in Vegas. He has always been nice to me and a stand up guy. I asked him these questions about Pretty Boy Floyd's career and these are his answers. Remember I of course am not a reporter just a fan talking with him..

Question 1. I heard Floyd is going to come back and fight Marquez at 140 is that true.

Answer. Floyd hasn't fought at 140 in a long time and thats not his weight class anymore. Where did you here that?

    My response.. Boxingscene

Question 2. So is he going to fight Marquez at 147 or is there another fight or a tune up fight?

Answer. While laughing Floyd doesn't need any tune up fight. Floyd doesn't need to fight he is retired. What else did you here?

My response.. That he should come out of retirement against the winner of Pac/Hatton or Cotto or Marquez. We all know Floyd is great but how great people need to remember.

His response.. All of these fighters are good fighters that are beating up against each other.

Question 3. So Am I going to see Floyd fight this year?

    His response.. Laughter

My conclusion.. Floyd is fighting this year against whoever is the biggest name with the biggest money. Floyd has options his options are in this order

    1. Hatton If Hatton beats Pacman there wouldn't be a bigger money fight in the world. Hatton would have immediate respect and a definate top 5 P4P with a win over Pacman. Maybe even Hatton's Golden Boy camp offers Floyd 20 to 25 million to fight in the UK.

    2. Marquez. With JMM calling him out and willing to fight at 147 to prove his legacy he must beat Pacman convincingly or beat the unbeatable PBF. Golden Boy wants the fight but can they lure Floyd with 12 million. I don't think so.

    3. Pacman. If Pacman beats Hatton. A reach. Pacman is the biggest name in boxing as the active P4P #1 fighter. His fight with Floyd will definately be the best fight within the last 15 years. When was the last time we have seen the top 2 P4P fighters go at it. The biggest problem is not the money its the Arum/Haymon fued. Like Floyd and Pacman these 2 are the the biggest influence in the sport along with Golden Boy.

    4. Mosley. If Sugar Shane secures a match with Cotto and beats him. Sugar Shanes stock goes through the roof. An aging fighter beating the best in his division would give Shane the Bernardisque role. This fight can happen if the Cotto fight can get made and Mosley wins. The money will be available and would give us a fight we have waited for 4 the last 8 years.

If he comes out of retirement then that's cool but there is no proof there saying he will just assumptions, if he comes out of retirement then that will be good (only if his heart is still in it) but we will have to wait and see what happens.

All I am basically saying is that we shouldn't jump to conclusions without any real proof.

We never reported that he was fighting Marquez at 140-pounds. We never reported he was fighting anybody or wanted to fight anybody at any weight. We reported that "Marquez wants" to fight him at a catch-weight between 140 and 147.

The fans at boxingscene. Not boxingscene. I was telling him about the rumors not that the Boxingscene reported it. If Boxingscene reports anything we all know that its true. I just hope that this will become true that is why I was asking him from a fans prespective not a reporter.

I think he meant that fans on this website that use these forums have been saying it rather than the reporters on this site (you guys wouldn't make anything up everybody knows that).
