I don't think Marquez can entice Mayweather to unretire and fight. Floyd would likely ask for a big sum and Marquez is not as much a draw unlike the likes of De La Hoya, Hatton, and Pacquiao.

Mayweather vs. Marquez: Juan Seriously After Floyd

Some of you guys are forgetting.....
That Floyd Mayweather Jr had a career before Welter Weight & fought his way through 5 division winning & defending his titles. People don't have to like him but the facts are the facts, he's one of the best to do it. Sure he could of fought a lil longer but who out there do you think could SERIOUSLY give him MAJOR trouble? Mosley? He had 2 chances to get at Floyd YEARS!! ago but opted to go to the dentist, then take a vacation NEVER to speak Floyd's name again until Floyd became a BIG name in boxing?
Cotto? Cotto wasn't ready at 140 to go at Floyd and he's been asked numerous times inside and outside of the ring and NEVER expressed interest in fighting Floyd. Cotto should have push the issue publicly for Floyd instead of letting his company speak for him if he was really thirsty to beat Floyd. Floyd was the man on top & Cotto was the challenger, It was Cotto's job to push the issue. The only two fighters that officially called Floyd out was Margarito & Hatton. Margarito just had nothing to offer and Hatton just put down Castillo, the man who gave PBF the most trouble.
People say Castillo gave him the most trouble TRUE but instead of Floyd opting not to fight him again Floyd rematched him immediately. If he was scared to lose I don't think he would have fought him again. PBF didn't do a lot at 147 but he still became the recognized Welter Weight. I read posts and a lot of people bashing Floyd forget he started at 130 & fought his way up. Here's some of his fights:
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The Elite: Genaro Hernandez (38-1-1), Diego Corrales (33-0), and Jose Luis Castillo (45-4-1)
The Strong: Zab Judah (34-3), Jesus Chavez (36-1), Arturo Gatti (39-6), Sharmba Mitchell (56-4), Carlos Hernandez (33-2-1), DeMarcus Corley (28-2-1), Goyo Vargas (41-5-1), and Angel Manfredy (25-2-1)

Bottom line, Floyd fought some good fighters but the fact is that he was just way better than them, doesn't mean he hasn't fought anyone, it just means that the kid is NICE with his. As a BOXING FAN, I just don't see anyone that can beat him skill wise at this time. If he doesn't have the passion to fight anymore then he should just stay retired.Last edited by Dave Rado; 03-08-2009, 07:05 AM.

thats the bull**** reply you will get to that

It says a lot about a fighter when people walk out mid bout and abandon their expensive seats. And if Baldomir is so ****ty why does Floyd run from him? Why not just end him?
Oh wait, I know why...and so do Barkley and Jordan. They are real competitors who cant relate to garbage.

All your b*tchin makes this website suck a littl bit more everyday. It seems that the more days pass since Floyd's "retirement" you **** keep talkin about him more and more everyday.
If you all hate him so much as you claim and he's a p*ssy and this and that then why do you all sign on to your computers at different times during the day to express your current frustrations with the sport. Boxing without Floyd sucks!!!!! Besides Cotto, Pacman, JMM, Mosley, Hatton, P Will... Boxing blows!!!! You have alot of promising up and comers but we're missing the sports top dog. Don't misunderstand this post. I am just as frustrated as you are but I keep **** in perspective. Boxing can't afford Floyd. Let me show you why.... He fought DLH and made 25 mill+, then Hatton and made 20 mill+. Why the **** would ANYONE settle for any less than that from here on out especially since he won both bouts. Money talks. Silly ass Bob Arum wanted to give him 8 to fight Margo... 8!!!!!!!!!!???? WTF? I wouldn't take the fight either. It aint Floyds fault that Margo wasn't marketable. People say Clottey.... Most average people have no ****ing clue who Clottey is. Why the hell would he fight Clottey on regular HBO for crumbs?? You all are ******ed. You all see it from all the other boxer's perpectives but never take the time to look at it from Floyd's. IF YOU BECAME RICH AND ACCUSTOMED TO FLY FIRST CLASS WHY THE **** WOULD YOU SETTLE FOR COACH? answer me that... I don't know about you guys but if I was flying first class I would be trying to ensure my next flight is on my OWN plane (progress not regress). I can't blame anyone for trying to go up instead of down.
To me the only fight that makes sense for Floyd to take would be against Pacman.
The reason why is because you look at Pacman and he is the only guy out there who has the marketability of Floyd. Pacman and Floyd would be able to generate a megafight. Mosley fights don't make money.. it would be a great match but will never happen because Shane is gonna want 50/50 and quite frankly he don't deserve it because he won't be bringing in as much fanbase as Floyd. The only other fight out there that might make sense in the near future would be vs Cotto. His fanbase has been constantly growing and everybody loves the guy.... And he hapens to be a great boxer in his on right. The only thing missing is for Cotto to stop letting his management speak for him and blatantly call out Floyd in a Hatton-like way. Besides money, I have come to notice that Floyd is rather weak when someone calls him out DIRECTLY. I'm not talking about the part when Larry Merchant asks EVERY boxer alive if he wants Floyd next after a win. Im talking about Mosley, Cotto, Pacman, P Will coming out and straight up saying Floyd aint got nothing and they want to beat the **** out of him. If that happens then he would come out of retirement.
I need my man Cotto to step out of his verbal shell and call him out nasty.
Then we will get what we want!
