    Oh please

He won the fight fair and square. Fact is he busted Vitali up so bad with his fist he could not continue. That fight goes two more rounds Vitali's eye would have popped out of the damn socket.

Vitali had a golden oppertunity in from of him. Vitali fought a fat, old and out of shape Lewis and STILL got beaten.

This is one thing that kills me about boxing fans. We beg and cry for Evander to get out because he's clearly hurting himself, yet Lewis walks away on top and he gets critasized too. I mean what is it?

Lewis is 39 years old, has all his brain cells, all his money, a new family and is kicking back on a beach in Jamcia right now. He noticed his heart wasn't in it anymore and walked away on top.

    Good for Lennox

It does not surprise me Lennox Lewis stays retired. Vitali is very good. There are other fighters that are very good too, like Toney.

This happens in pretty much all sports.
We love to see our top guys stay in as long as they can.
Even if their skills are fading.
It's because we have gotten so used to seeing them and cheering for them.
If they go out on top we talk negatively about them and question their heart.
But we all know we'd rather see them go out on top and healthy than see them still in the game after their prime and mentally and physically unhealthy.
I'm not a Lewis fan but I'm glad that he's leaving with everything intact.

Yes. I like Vitali. He is not afraid of fighting. Too many fighters recently are afraid of fighting the difficult fight. They care about themselves more than the sport and would rather find their glory the easiest way.

Very good post, you have saved me time even writing one for myself. It's good there are sensible boxing fans out their like you to keep things sane. How anyone can criticize Lennox for retiring while he was on top needs their heads checking. You got good karma.

Dude, Lewis was getting his ass beat. And fight wouldn't go 2 more rounds because Lewis would NOT have made it through the next round. I like Lewis better than Vitali and the cut was worth stopping the fight, but come on, you act like Lewis was putting on a boxing lesson. Again, Lewis was getting his ass beat and he got lucky that Vitali got cut.
And because The Champ was getting his ASS BEAT, people are mad that there was no rematch. If Lewis was doing the ass whoopin, then no one would be upset about not rematching Vitali.
