Nah it's more than that, it's trying to push the padding away from the knuckles.

Basically, the gloves are taped really high - packing in the foam in the gloves (if you will)

notice how the tape covers the logo on cotto's gloves VS mosley's gloves.

        that's skinning.

this practice also displaces some of the weight from the end of the glove, allowing you to move your hands faster.

So is it high tape or what ice and rockin were talking about?

I believe it's what Ice and Rockin are talking about. Users of said skinning also have the tape rolled before being put through the fingers sometimes. Honestly if the opposing trainer is letting it go then people will keep doing it. This is like the Cotto vs Pac and Pac vs Marg where Roach didnt let Cotto do it yet Manny does it.

Those MAB wraps were ridiculous btw lol. Looking like he has arm warmers on

Anyway... Speaking of hand wraps..anyone remember Danny Green's vs Roy Jones? There was a pic with him and his girl and those wraps looked fishy as hell from what I remember.

If it's illegal it's cheating imo.
I disagree. To be cheating in my book it must give you a sizeable advantage. What significant advantage does this give you?

thought everyone on NSB could take a break from flaming each other and learn something about the game we all love and not some fighter.
Except it's in the wrong forum and there will be flaming without question. There was flaming since page 1.

If you are even moderately learned in boxing you would know that padding your knuckles is beneficial to the puncher and less padding hurts the puncher more than the recipient. The reason I say this is because you make it sound like some sort of advantage.

It's about superficial/physical damage from my understanding. The thing is your wrist/hand is so hard and compact that you're not in much bigger danger of injuring your hand but you can add a little more snap to your punches and have a better chance of causing cuts and swelling/bruising. Its not just on your head, think about the forearms, ribs, etc as they're hit with whats closer to bone than with a normally wrapped and gloved hand. Ive not myself questionably wrapped my hands but i have been shown the difference with having a typical wrapping/taping etc and one with improper use of tape and lacing and it feels like a f ucking hammer.
