I'd like to hear Ice's thoughts on the topic. Maybe it's something they should bring up more in boxing circles. I just dont see how it would be overlooked for this long if it were really impactful.

I'm not sure if it is illegal, I don't know the exact details of the rules so I can't say if it's illegal or not, I'm just saying I don't think it's illegal if it's been allowed to happen for years upon years and in a lot of places and it's not like tape where no one can see it on TV, it's very noticeable to anyone watching so I think it's just trainers stretching and bending the rules, not entirely breaking it. But as I said, I'm not sure about the exact wording of the rules.Comment

skinning the gloves has nothing at all to do with how the gloves are taped. Skinning is where the fighter puts the gloves on and the trainer laces the gloves but does not tie them. The fighter holds out his glove, palm down and grips the glove tight. The trainer then brings the laces around from the bottom and crosses the laces over the knuckle area of the fist. He then pulls tightly and pulls the crossed laces from the knuckle area to the base of the fingers under he glove. Do this multiple times and the padding is displaced from the knuckles to the finger tips. It is rather common but not legal.........Rockin'

from what I know, this term refers to something very basic...when you tie the gloves up initially you wrap the laces around the back of the glove and pull the laces down towards the wrist...its makes for a firmer grip is all...feels good inside the glove, makes for a better grip...NOTHING illegal about it...nothing dangerous..its done in full view of the inspectors all the time...no big deal at all...Comment

ALSO I do not see it moving the padding...they arent going to let u do that...the padding is almost always foam now, not horse hair anymore, you cant move it away from the knuckles...it just makes for a firmer grip...Comment
