Who in here actually owns a heavy bag or speed bag?

I have a heavy bag but I don't think I'm really hitting it right. Anyone have any advice on how it's done? It came with ****ty MMA-style gloves so I'm using those

Get some hand wraps and proper bag gloves with decent padding (i.e. not the MMA kind).

that thing is ****ty don't get it. there's no way to have movement around that heavy bag because of the anchor bars at the bottom. a heavy bag is supposed to swing freely allowing movement and motion around it to punch it from all angles you're not supposed to just stand still in front of a heavybag and wail on it that's not only pointless but also useless. it would do you better (and is much cheaper) to just buy a heavybag and rig it yourself to a crossbeam of some sort in your ceiling or garage and then buy a speed bag and mount it which is very cheap and you can cheaply buy mounting racks and all that and screw them into a wall or ceiling.

I had both when I lived at home but now I have my own apartment and I can't have either so I sold them before I moved out. I really miss my speed bag though.

I've been hitting up my bag about 5 days a week now, nothing crazy like 5 rounds shadow boxing 5 rounds hitting the bag. Hopefully I keep it up to get my fatass back into shape.

I got a heavy bag, bag gloves, and 12 oz gloves. I currently hang my bag from the porch above me but I do have a bag stand too.
