Personally... JMM doesnt win a single round against Floyd...

Come on... Maywether loses early rounds against pretty much anyone good. However it is also true that he hasnt fought someone as small as JMM in ages. If Mayweather was aggressive since the get go he could win every round, just out of phisical advantages. That's not how the fight would go. Look for Mayweather to lose 2 of the first 3 rounds. Until Roger tells him to "not worry about none of that bull****" or some other brilliant insight.
I just don't agree with this.
Which fights has he lost the early rounds in except for the Judah fight. He was ahead in both Castillo fights after 4. No one else i can think of has beaten Mayweather in the early rounds, and I've seen all of his fights.Comment

Im a big fan of Marquez... actually, at this point... im probably more of a fan of Marquez then I am of Floyd... I jumped off the couch when he put down Diaz (Diaz fan also)... but I am a realist... Marquez doesn't win a round against Floyd...
It pisses me off how for Floyd to fight Mosley or Pac he prices himself out.... but Marquez someone he KNOWS he can beat... all the sudden, money isnt mentioned.. and instead "careful what you wish for" is muttered from their camp...
Either way, in my realist opinion... Marquez doesnt win a round in this fight...
Ok, not a round might be an overstatementComment

Out of respect or trouble, he thinks a lot in the early rounds. My personal take (which I expect no one to agree with) beyond the two obivious reasons I just mentioned, is that he'd rather lose rounds in an almost 'planned' way than win them but get caught with something big enough to make him look 'unpolished' in the process. The f-cker is an egomaniac after all.
But it is entirely possible that he starts strong against JMM, simply because JMM, who comfortably made 126 for like 10 years would not be very dangerous.
EDIT: I reread my original post. You are right DW and I was wrong. I wrote Mayweather loses early rounds against anyone good. Clearly it is not the case, except for the 3 fights I mentioned.Last edited by wmute; 03-03-2009, 03:07 AM.Comment

Juan Manuel Marquez
Age 35
Height 5' 7 * / * 170cm
Reach 67 * / * 170cm
Floyd Mayweather Jr
Age 32
Height 5' 8 * / * 173cm
Reach 72 * / * 183cm

The size difference isn’t as significant as members make it out to be. I do acknowledge that he competed in the Welter Weight division (though quality of those fighters can be questionable). But I can not regard him, as a natural Welter Weight. The best division for Floyd would be the Light Welter Weight. His defensive stance would offset Marquez counter punching stance.
Floyd natural weight at 140 would give him decisive check in the pro box. But 1 year of diminishes a fighters skill. To make matters worse, Marquz is continuously proving himself by fighting quality opposition. PEOPLE these are serious factors, that cant be overlooked.
Evasive fighting vs. compact/precise punching. Top Defensive boxer, vs. Top counter puncher.
What I am getting at, is the Pretty Boy, better think twice if he thinks he can would through Dynamita. Its not gonna happen. He is not considered #2 p4p for nothing. Case and point being, what happens if Pac continues do doge JMM. And at that point JMM cleans out the LWW division? How much more evidence, would members have to see for JMM to be considered a viable threat @140 to Ricky, Pac-Man, and Floyd?
Or better yet, who does JMM have to beat at 140 for you to believe this would make an amazing match. Styles make matches. This is one of them.Comment

He lost early rounds against Hatton and Oscar too.

And I'm guessing you disagree with the official scoring in Mayweather-Hatton, because he didn't lose almost any rounds against Hatton. I thought he won the first round big, regardless of what Lederman though... that jab when Hatton's shoe was on Mayweather's was not nearly enough to win the round IMO.
I would probably agree that looking flawless when trying is a bigger deal to Floyd than risking that to possibly win 120-108. That guy is ****ing nuts with the way he thinks.Comment

What does Floyd fight for........MONEY
JMM doesn't bring that so why would Floyd not fight Pacquiao
I'll leave Boxingscene if this fight happens, I know it won'tComment

I thought Oscar came on in the middle rounds, but it's been a while since I watched that fight. I might be wrong. I thought Floyd outsped him to narrowly win the early rounds.

By losing early rounds, I don't mean he would be losing the fight after 4-6 rounds. I mean that Marquez would not be shut out and the rounds he'd be winning to avoid that would be in the first few rounds.
On those fights apply the same remark above.
I think Oscar was pretty consistent in the first half of the fight.
I gave Hatton 2 or 3 rounds, but I don't remember. Honestly when I rewatched that fight, I was waiting for the inside fighting, when Mayweather stopped moving. That's probably the only time that I saw greatness happening live, and not a day, a week, or years later. I literally thought, this guy is a great, he does it all, he knows boxing in and out like an oldtimer with 80+ fights. Now that I think about it... F-ck Mayweather for retiring right after that.Comment
