You're saying someone as technically gifted as Marquez wouldn't win a SINGLE round against Floyd?
Marquez is not gifted he is a product of tuition dedication and hard work , Mayweather is the one that is gifted and he is a bigger fighter , style wise JMM is perfect for Floyd to look great against .

I don't think Floyd can get ring rust, he's a natural in the ring. I believe when one starts boxing at the tender age of 3, ring rust doesn't become a factor. Floyd was born to skillfully fight. Reminds me of the movie The Hitman how he was trained to kill.

if not berto , clottey , marg will do.

It is not apparent that Cotto and Mosley will even have a rematch, atleast this year. Why does he have to fight those guys, if he was still an active fighter and held onto his title you have a point. He has been out of the 147 picture for over a year and a half, remember he was talking Oscar fight when he retired and that would not have been at 147 (atleast I think).

If he wants to be considered the best welter when he comes back, you are right he has to do that.

He does not really have to prove he is the best welter anymore since he has been gone for so long, it would be cool if he did but I do not think he needs to do it. If he wants people to think better of him as a 147 pound fight you would be right also.

He can do whatever he wants now he has no ties to any divisions currently. I would love to see him fight any great fighter, or any of the really good welters. As a fan I would like to see him come back to fight anyone, I am not to choosey.

Can close the gap? yes i agree but when did he did that againts a ELITE?

            ***** Norwood Fight )))))

Just imagine JMM tryin to stalk Floyd? Againts lesser fighter he can be successfull but againts floyd?

Floyd would totally destroy him if he fights aggressive. Counter Punching is his bread Butter.

              Good call...

Marquez's accuracy and Floyd's low workrate would certainly allow more than a couple of rounds to be won by Marquez.

I still think Floyd's defense probably solves Marquez's offense enough that he can use his own accuracy to outpoint Marquez.

Marquez actually has some chin trouble (Diaz rocked him, which is pretty dramatic), so Mayweather might be able to stop him, but it is a long shot, because Floyd doesn't take chances in the ring (and outside of it too since 135), and he would have to have the perfect opportunity to blast Marquez in order to get a stoppage IMO.

Is your argument that Marquez hasn't improved since the Norwood fight?

                I, respectfully, disagree.

                  i'd like to see mayweather-dawson at 175.

i'd pay 2 bills for that.

Haven't you heard? Boxingscene says that Floyd is a coward and is ducking Dawson at 175.

Come on... Maywether loses early rounds against pretty much anyone good. However it is also true that he hasnt fought someone as small as JMM in ages. If Mayweather was aggressive since the get go he could win every round, just out of phisical advantages. That's not how the fight would go. Look for Mayweather to lose 2 of the first 3 rounds. Until Roger tells him to "not worry about none of that bull****" or some other brilliant insight.
